Stolen maybe?
Phew, looks like we dodged a bullet. Don't worry though, druh is on the case and gian-carlo also really wants 30.

While the idea of lower residential speed limits was rejected for now, Coun. Druh Farrell said the issue is far from settled, in her view, as concerned citizens "won't give up on this one."
GUess we can't give up fighting this nonsence from her. Who hell keeps voting this moron in? Good grief already!

Maybe it's time we fence them, similar to fencing in all the dumbass Americans that vote TrumpOriginally posted by reijo

Her riding (which I am unfortunately in) is a prime example of why first-past-the-post voting is horrible. Every election the vote is split 4-5 ways, with the majority of residents going against druh. I really hope we she a shift from federal level down to municipal, shifting to a ranked ballot.

Considering that people usually go 50-60 in 50 zones, I think the real reason for a move to 40kph limits, is so that people keep their actual speed under 50.
If you stand on the side of a residential road, the difference in perceived speed by a child/pedestrian between 50kph and 60kph is significant.
I think this is a good idea.
My experience is quite different - I am constantly behind people going 30-40 in residential zones, taking their sweet ass time, and also not accelerating at all after the "end playground zone" signs. You will always have the odd idiot blowing through, but those people will drive like that no matter what the limit.Originally posted by Buster

I generally agree though, people seem to be programmed to go at least 10+ over in most instances, if not more. It just goes to show how our speed limits are artificially low on many roads.
I wish they would raise speedlimits in areas where it would be safe (HWY2, maybe even deerfoot).

There has been, but none have anything to do with speed. Example:Originally posted by Sugarphreak
There hasn't be a huge rash of cars mowing down kids, so obviously the current rules are more than adequate.

Bottom line is that people adjust their speed to match conditions.
But my anecdotal evidence matches 'Phreaks anecdotal evidence, which both counter your anecdotal evidence... So there.Originally posted by Buster
But they don't.
On a whole, the city has a problem with artificially low speed limits, to a far greater degree than 50 km/h is... But that doesn't do anything to support CPS revenues.
No, they will use this one:Originally posted by rage2
