Default Looking for dog training class recommendations

Now that things are opening up, we're looking to put our 6-month old Westie into some in-person training classes. We have a short list of Dogma, SitHappens and Keyenna, but would really appreciate feedback from folks who have gone to those places or have other suggestions. Cheers!

Sit Happens was really great, and their daycare is quite good with familiar trainers if that’s important to you.

Check out username " meeekkss " on IG... She is my business partners lady and she is an unreal dog whisperer type person. She is primarily a dog walker but really is an amazing trainer. I have never seen anything like it. Our American Bulldog rescue was a nightmare when we first got him. Trying to get him to listen etc was next to impossible. She came and took him on a private walk one day when we were at the shop and within like 30 minutes she was posting video of getting him to walk onto a bench, sit and pose for pictures! That may not sound like much but if you knew how he was you would know how insane that was. She just did basic walks with him once a week for a couple months and gave us some simple tips and shit on how to deal with his training and he became an entirely new dog!

She will walk like 6 or 8 dogs at a time and somehow get them all to line up and pose for pictures and all kinds of crazy stuff I would personally think impossible. Her company is called PupVentures YYC ( www.pupventuresyyc.ca ) and is definitely worth a look. Like I said, she isn't really a trainer as a gig but she is incredible at doing it and is always super generous with her knowledge and can help you find just that right person even.

I'd say whichever is closest to you from that list. Driving there a couple times a week I wouldn't waste the extra 10-20 minutes to drive across the city to a different place. Most of the classes are all about teaching you, not the dog, and then it's up to you to go home and actually keep the training steady

Except there are very many different training methods and philosophies. In the end you have to go with the one that works with your lifestyle and gives both you and the pup the highest chance at success, and as pheoxs says, stay with it.

I understand that but from the 3 listed they're all positive training and for the puppy level it's all relatively similar training (IMO). I'm not saying find a random trainer on Kijiji though.

My wife works with hyperhounds down by ikea, they do a variety of puppy, obedience and dog sport classes. They use clicker and/or treat based reward system if memory serves, let me know if you want any more details.

    Worked well for our doggos

I was working towards "the dog should be pissing directly on that fucking goof's face, so it must be trained good".
    But I felt bad.
    Why did I feel bad...

Better put that lipstick-boner away or you'll get sprayed with the hose.

Getting this thread back on track.

I have done a bunch of different training including sit happens.

The best hands down was clever canines https://clevercanines.ca/

    https://www.littlebrowndogtraining.com/

smaller classes, Shauna who runs it is very passionate about dogs.
    - actually has a psychology degree and has a ton of dog specific training etc.

I went through Clever Canines, while the pup start was fine - Core is a waste of money.

That company only cares about money, when you go into their office - they have awards of how much they have made

Most dog training is actually training the owner. A dog will do whatever you want them to do.
