Ive Had DFN on and off. I have a chunk of it now in fact. The Dividend is great, but it only pays if both DFN.to and the DFN.PR.A are above a certain dollar amount added together. I'm trying to find the info on the Quadravest (The fund manager) website but I don't see it anywhere obvious. I also was in and out of their FTN fund which also has a solid return, and again it was the same deal. I got out of FTN when there was talk of issues within the financial sector, as FTN is puled from a basket of Financial institution stocks. I'm not adding more into DFN, and will probably pull out of it in a few months to have some cash for when a few things drop a bit more. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Short version: DFN is cool, and pays dividends consistently, but there is the possibility that it won't pay on some months.
Edit: Found it in their fund documents
No regular monthly dividends will be paid on the Class A Shares in any month as long as any dividends on the Preferred Shares are then in arrears or so long as the net asset value per Unit is equal to or less than $15.00. Additionally, it is currently intended that no special year-end dividends will be paid if after payment of such a dividend the net asset value per Unit would be less than $25.00.
