    Default Help with new ITR

Hey guys so i just bought a new 97 acura intergra type R.

the car looks pretty good but needs some work. I was looking to see if any one new of any good places i could bring this thing to have the interior see some TLC, i am looking to have new carpeting put in all around and have a few other minor things done on interior as well as have the motor rebuilt. That is the big one no any good places in Calgary to have a rebuild done?

Another question i have is i noticed that when i get into the 5000 rpm mark the exhaust is producing a greyish black smoke. I am assuming this means i am burning oil? *I am not that worried as i was thinking it would need a rebuild anyway but is there any other solution that having it rebuilt, is there any chance having a engine fluch would help? I should probably just bring it down to a mechanic but thought i would ask anyway.

    Thx Guys.

Black smoke is usually fuel related (white is coolant, blue is oil....usually). Are you running really rich, or possibly some problem with your fuel setup?

For interiors, if you arn't going to do it yourself, I've had excellent luck with 'Cascade Vans' (google for address)

my guess is vtec timing. make sure buddy didnt screw with your dizzy or timing belt.
also have you been loosing large amounts of oil? it can be hard to tell if its black or blue smoke'

sweet ride though. just dont ruin that pretty JDM conversion. mine tried to makeout with a focus, lets just say things didnt end well.

For the mechanical stuff take it to Option Import. Jim is the ex Acura tech there. He does all the work on my NSX and treats you great.

I have found Jim to be extremely honest and reasonable. He will tell you what needs to be done. For example a friend of mine thought he needed an expensive part for his RX7 but Jim took a look and figured he knew what the problem was and fixed it without needing the part. His shop is next to Shadow Tint on Macleod Trail - close to the Hooters.

Refreshing the interior is not hard but it is time consuming. I would try to find someone who works in audio install to give you a hand. They dismantle interiors on a regular basis.

Instead of rebuilding the motor, I'd try to source a clean used one instead. I've never seen a rebuilt motor outlast one from the Honda factory.

I'd drive the car until the motor grenades before worrying about it.

Well bit of an update, my dad and his buddy were looking at it today and were giving it some gas and it started to have some fluid come out of the back of the exhaust. The smoke is definitely more blue than anything. They are sure its not oil or gas they think it might be antifreeze. they were saying something about the head being warped any one else have any ideas as to what this could be?
