I know those typical scammers selling cars for unreasonably cheap and making all kinds of excueses that they can't provide phone numbers.
But this is different because I am selling a car.
So I have this car for sale on Kijiji and got an offer through email.
He first made an offer just like any other people
"Hello, i am interested in buying your vehicle. Your AD states $3,900 But i can only afford to pay $3,700, please let me know if my offer is ok by you, thanks.
Michael Brown. "
I said the offer is close enough so tell him to come take a look.
Then things start looking suspicious.
"Thanks, i am a business man who buy vehicle's and send them oversea's for sale. I do that as a parttime outside my real job. Does the vehicle have an engine problem? If the engine is fine, then we can get started.
I would love to come take a look at it and test drive it but i am very busy this period as some of my vehicle's will be leaving for oversea soon, so we are busy preparing them for shipment. But what i will like to do at this time is:
I want to send you a cheque for the payment for the vehicle. After cashing the cheque, you will notify me, before coming to pick-up the vehicle. If this is ok by you, please let me know so that we can get started immediately. If you are fine with this method then provide me with:
(1) The name you want the cheque to be on.
(2) The address you want me to send it to.
If you can provide me with these details, the check will be send out to you immediately, then after it clears, i will come pick up the vehicle. I await your reply, thanks and have a nice day.
Michael Brown."
I asked for the number just like how I test other scammers.
But he actually provides me the ontario number and he is in ontario.
I talked to him on the phone and everything sounds legit.
He wants me to let him know when check clears so he can arrange the pick up. Things look suspicious but I really don't know What the trick is.
