I think there is also some kind of fuckery going on with the transmission, too. Like the trans will try and keep the engine revs high to help engine braking or some such.

They can't just be talking about deceleration fuel cutoff. Any FI car from the past 10 years would not be able to meet emissions standards without deceleration fuel cut off.

F off Ford! Why you gotta go making everyone elses car feel slow and expensive like that!

Seriously, a base mustang running 13s?

    Rediculous.

Good on them. They are kicking serious ass while everyone else is hurting. And no bailout!

    From another thread

It put a hurting on a Camaro SS

Wow this thing is seriously a monster. And because Ford has always been cool with aftermarket goodies imagine this thing with a Ford Performance Intake, Exhaust and maybe even cams if they ever release any it's going to be savage.

The M3 is .1 seconds faster to 60mph, therefore it is worth the ~$30,000 price difference

    ^ And that's US, it's probably $40K difference here.

    ^ Nope, it's still ~$30,000

    2011 Mustang GT - $38,499
    2011 BMW M3 Coupe - $71,300

    Another interesting thing of note:

    Fuel Economy (City/Highway):

    Mustang GT - 19/29 mpg
    M3 Coupe - 14/20 mpg

Interesting article, truth is, as its been said everyone is underatting. Still can't wrap my head around a mustang even with the bargain performance the same way porsche owners just can't quite do a vette. To each their own though.

I guess if you can afford a M3, you can care less about MPG.

You get more shit on the Canadian GT than the US GT i.e. most of the US Premium package is standard on the Canadian one, so the actual price difference is small.

Are you kidding? So what your saying is you can have a Mustang GT with some extra cash for stickier tires, intake, exhaust, chip, that can put a hurting on an M3 and you still have enough left over to buy yourself a decently equipped econobox (civic, focus, cobalt, sentra, forte...)

I know a GT and a M3 are not in the same class it's just funny when you look at things that way.

That's pretty much been true ever since the first M3? It's not like Mustangs back in the day were slow cars. The BMW is just much more expensive than it use to be. E36 M3 was a $40k car now it's $72k?

Mustang was great @ straight lines and that's pretty much it.

Now it's almost evenly matched by every measure except douchiness.

    Better price comparison.. (CDN Funds)
    M3

    $71,300.00 And 414 HP

    GT500

    $59,050 And 540 HP

Same car pictured is available right now in Mississauga Ontario for $53,727

Now the picking gets really difficult...a true street sweeper / track killer..540 HP, will get to 700 with a pulley swap and other bolt ons..and still $17,573 CHEAPER

On C&D's lightning lap, the 2008 GT500 was already close to the M3 and neck to neck with the C63 AMG. The 2011 GT500 is going to have more HP, lose a whole bunch of weight due to the new aluminum engine, and have better suspension.

I think when they do it again in 2010 the 5.0 is going to be running with the M3 and the GT500 is going to be running with the Corvette.

I agree as my next car will be a gt500 as it wont be as nose heavy with the new block and not to mention they seem to keep there value more than a regular mustang due to being a shelby. Drove one and loved it! Never thought I would want a ford but it was very impressive and can only imagine with less weight and more horsepower what it will be like.
