I think there's a big disconnect between what folks think we spend on "native supports and stuff" and how much benefit any individual native is getting.

Lot of reasons for that, but it's an important distinction.
But it’s important to remember that what folks think we spend is more important than what is actually spent. Especially if you know somebody who knows somebody who talked with some bullshitter in a bar who gets some ‘too good to be true’ perks, that’s just facts!

I get what you're saying - but the actual problem is the money and where it goes to is hidden from public.

Unless I'm dense, there is no way to access how much and where the money toward First nations goes every year. Am I wrong??

We see occasional big ticket payments in the media, such as the 1.2 Billion (yes with a B) to the Siksika nation last year.
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."

It's why I was wondering what additional benefits the one user thinks he will get. Maybe some help on a job app(assuming they don't question him/her), maybe some extra help on bidding on jobs(assuming they don't question him/her) and Maybe some funding for a business(again assuming they don't question him which is extremely unlikely).

In Ont, quebec and Atlantic you can get tax exemptions at the till anywhere you shop. In alberta it's not setup that way.

My co worker the other day thought I didn't pay taxes.

Looks like you're right - they are recognized as Indians under the Constitution [R. v. Powley 2003 SCC] but not the Indian Status Act.

    Weird.

Nah, not really. I was hoping cash money would respond at some point about what his perceived benefits might be. All my scenarios are hypotheticals, and in the end most likely no help to some dude going onto ancestry.com to see if he's in any way part indian. He wont get status, so no tax exemptions. He will also need a lot more then some ancestry/geneology to say he's part indian if he wants his bids ranked higher then others(assuming he's even a contractor). He's got no connections to the local communities, no historical ties, no immediate family around Alberta on reserves. Hard to argue theres been any struggles at that point. His bid will be ranked lower then any indigenous owned company who he's bidding against who grew up on a reserve, have immediate family in residential schools or had family torn apart as part of the 60s scoop etc etc etc.

In relation to funding, I've worked with some organizations for myself and others. From experience the ones I've dealt with have dug into ones past to see who their assisting.

So this leaves him with lying on a job application in the hopes his pretendian status gets him the job over someone else. Not much anyone can do about those wanting to lie on their job application, lets hope those in HR/recruiting can ask some questions to sniff out the liars.

This type of scumminess is normally reserved for those out east... he'd find lots of support out that way if he was to move.

    lol why haha

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu proudly shared a photo of the controversial “electeds of color” holiday party she hosted on Wednesday, showcasing all the smiling government officials of minority backgrounds at the “no whites” gathering.

It's important to combine racial segregation with lpud declarations that one (or some) groups have attributes that make them permanently less acceptable and capable. Otherwise what's the point?

I somehow doubt this will get any real traction

What about terms like Calgarian, or Vancouverite? Are we going to change to "People living in Calgary" too

Besides, it just refers to people living within an area, not the demographic.

My favorite ridiculous woke thing is calling homeless people "people experiencing homelessness". Yes... they are people without homes, or more concisely, homeless people. Welcome to using English correctly.

Our society is going to be so much fun later. The news in 2028: "Today a person experiencing riding a bicycle collided with a person experiencing driving a motor vehicle".

You'd get body slammed by protesters here for that, haha

"People experiencing homelessness" is currently the BC politically correct way

BC voted for NDP, this shouldn't be a surprise. Just imagine what damage a federal NDP Jagmeats PM would do.
