This hurt my heart. Heard a loud THWACK, but couldn't see anything when driving. Came back from grocery shopping, noticed it when I got back to the truck.

Looking into full Gorilla Glass replacement, they come highly recommended.

Anywhere in Canada that will install and warranty this product? Seems like the kind of thing you'd want to be able to make a warranty claim on when it does actually break.

Plus it'll be 3x the cost of a single replacement, which seems like poor value, but whatev.

I've been reading good reviews about the product, like no chips at all. Would it have worked here? Tough to say.

Warranty is provided by the manufacturer in any case, you can take your glass to any installer

As for 3 times the price, I don't know how much Ford oem glass is, but I don't think this is 3x the price. USA based folks are saying about $300usd more. Free shipping to the border (once its open).

I'd like to give it a try. A new vehicle is a waste of money, but here we are!

I think @ExtraSlow was comparing it to non-oem as this is a non oem windshield. I just replaced my F150's windshield for $230 and all the quotes I got were in that price range.

I think that quality wise, you would be comparing it to OEM glass. The cheapy 200-$300 windshields you can buy I personally find to have poor optics.

Trust me, on any other vehicle, I am right there with you, buy cheap glass, replace as necessary.

It was just an F150 Lariat FX4. I am speaking to a friend who works at GM (previously Ford) and he tells me now GM AND Ford will actually blacklist you if you resell for any reason under 6 months 12k currently, unless it’s returned to the dealer. I pointed out the financial distress or wealthy people who want new vehicles quickly and he said GM for sure doesn’t give a damn.

Think I kept my Colorado longer than 6 months. Either way, IDGAF if either of these companies 'blacklist' me anyway. lol

you trade back in to dealers though right? So no worries unless one of the dealers doesn't know the export rules, which would be pretty shocking.

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

Best way to do it is to have enough net-worth so the bank gives you a business rolling line of credit for next to no interest rate. Rest is all gravy. I know people driving 400K cars for a $1K a month. Doesn't matter whether you trade to a dealer or sell privately, nor do you need to rely on shitty dealer interest rates and terms. Or just lease and write it off as a business expense but then monthly cost is quite high comparatively. The first way if available is the best way to go - much like a HELOC but way better and without any collateral. If you have the cash and this option is also available to you and you still use the cash for vehicle purchases, then you're an idiot in my book.

Buying things and just paying interest on the loan makes anything seem affordable lol

Depreciation plus tax bill is the problem there.

Haha I don’t do this, I am not that baller yet. I am just saying the people that I know that have the kind of money do it and are in a new supercar every year. Sure depreciation is a factor but for cars at that level, if you buy preowned something that’s already taken a bit hit then in a year even if you lose 20K or something and that’s the cost of driving a car of that caliber and it shouldn’t bother you. The one guy I know who does this has had a Bentayga, Urus and now a 488 and maybe it’s his luck, he’s made money on each vehicle he sold after a year so far. Perhaps he found good deals to begin with or whatever but ya I can understand that is not the usual case. But then again you shouldn’t be buying cars like this with the hopes of making money on them. It’s a guilty pleasure so you should expect to pay for it and lose some money but as long as you can afford it then it doesn’t really matter does it.

Ford F150 plant shutdown extended another week.

Damned chip shortage. Inventories will remain tight for a long time, potentially another 12 months. Gross.

The 2021 Raptor order I had made while was initially expected near the end of this year has already been delayed until February next year. But I am pretty sure they will at that time say there is a further delay, which I then plan to cancel my order.
