    Default Porsche 944 V6

Alright, I'm not really big on build threads but a couple of friends have been bugging me to post this up.

The car is an 87 944 turbo. The previous owner used it for solo 2, and had a built 2.8l 8v, half cage and recaros when I got it.

After running it for a summer, I popped a head gasket and damaged a few cylinder walls, as well as some other internal damage.

After many frustrating months of dealing with shady/unresponsive companies trying to build a new 2.8 and missing the last track days ever at race city, I decided to take things into my own hands.

My friend Cam(noremac on beyond) told me about a mystical split case, compact forged crank v6 that came in probes and 626s, I bit the bullet and bought a KLZE from JDMsource.

Shortly after, a built bottom end was completed and fitment in the car started.

First attempt at an adapter. The bellhousing distorted too much with welding, so this was redone later. Sorry for some of the early pics taken with 0.8 megapixel potato.

Clearly, the brake booster would no longer fit. First toyed with Audi hydroboost and the stock master, than moved on to my own dual master setup.

Clearance to stock hood was inadequate

So, new carbon/kevlar hood was bought from DP in Germany, the same company that did the original bodywork for many classic Porsche race cars.

To clear the custom intake I have to make. When I started, I had no welder, no skill and had never had a real project of my own before.

Next up, cardboard engineering and good use of school equipment. New adapter plate template.

    Brake master bracket.

And the pieces that bolt to it.

Engine in. Next up, mounts. Around this time, my brother and I got a TIG welder and started to practice. Nice welds are by him, ugly by me.

    Collecters from SPD.

Intake Manifold. Plasma torch was handy here. The initial plat was to use plenum from RMR, and I used this and ANSYS at the university to see how air distribution would be. Later found out it didn't fit.

    Using ICE exhaust prototyping stuff.

This is pretty much where I'm at now. Had the cluster rescaled to 8000rpm redline to match the new cams and valve springs. Progress should be reasonable until I am gainfully employed. The plan from here is a Syvecs S6, and continue the metalwork.

Speedo is now 300km/h and 8000rpm redline. Gauges in the console are stack boost and oil temp, and soon to hold the new-old-stock 935 boost control know that was a gift from my brother.

This is awesome, I always thought the KLZE was a great engine - especially in the little MX-3s, but turbocharging it and shoving it into a 944 with RWD

Also that blue 356 in the one pic is , don't see too many of those in this city.

Sweet build. Do you work at Alpine? If you want to sell some of the old 944 stuff let me know!
