Version 2.0!

With the success of my last group buy buying dash cams, I have been approached about doing another. I have done quite a bit of research on different cams and setups, and I have found a manufacturer that I think fits the bill quite nicely, blending good quality, price, and options.

As such, I am looking at importing the Vicovation Marcus1, Marcus3 and Marcus5 Dash cams.

The really good news? They have approved me to become an official distributor of the cameras. What does that mean for you? It means there is no middle man and we all pay the actual cost. The manufacturer will ship directly to me, and then everyone can meet up with me to pick them up. To stay on the up and up, the only money I am taking above and beyond the cost of the cameras are any of my costs, like shipping and duties and the like. Rage2 and Kenny have given me their blessing to do this as well.

Pricing! we all want to know, right?
The Marcus1 should come in landed to me at about the $140-$145 mark
The Marcus3 should land at about the $180-$190 area
I do not have pricing on the Marcus5 yet, but I should soon. Early estimates are around the $260 mark.
*pricing subject to change depending on many variables, I will do my best to keep it as up to date as possible*

Ordering:
I can order as many as we want, but to get the initial discount, we need a minimum of 20, and the discount gets better the more that we order.

I will be getting samples soon, and I will be willing to pass them out on a couple day trials to people that commit to review and give honest opinions on.

In an effort to get the best price possible, feel free to pass this along to family and friends as well, as the more we order, the deeper the discount.

I am thinking of leaving this group buy open for about 6 weeks, that gives everyone enough time to get their affairs in order and such, and it gives everyone a chance to participate. note, this is subject to change as well.

I'm in for this one for sure, early indications I think I'll go Marcus 3, but I'd like to see some videos of each first (will do a little more research when I'm not on the phone.).

What's the appeal of a dual channel like the 5 has?

The dual channel give you 2 recording viewpoints, so you could set the second camera up in the rear window, or point it at the driver, or speedo, or whatever you want.

How large are these going to be compared to the blackvue and the like? Will it be hidden behind the rear view? Looks to be oddly shaped where it would be quite obvious that it's there.

There are 2 different mounts that can be used with these. one is a suction cup mount, and naturally will have a larger footprint, the other is a 3M sticky mount, with a much smaller and discreet footprint, that mounts quite similarily to the blackvue.

Both can be hidden behind the rear view mirror.

The marcus 1 is 72mmx33mmx53mm, so not that large at all.

The Blackvue is 102mmx32mmx32mm, so they are quite similar in size.

So from generally looking the Marcus 1 has 140 degree vs 160 degree on the Marcus 3 but would another selling point of the 3 be?

I'm interested in the Marcus 1 right now but if perhaps something about the 3 was inticing to me I'd look at it.

Plus the higher resolution means you can crop it down if you really want.

Yeah but cropping the marcus 3 or marcus 1 wouldn't change that much.

It appears it comes with a suction cup and a cigarette lighter for power. If you wanted to hard wire just cut the wires and solder away.

Do these cameras have a battery backup for sentry mode like the blackvue is my question?

Based off the view angle and the fact the Marcus 3 does 1080p @ 60fps you can put me down for a Marcus 3.
