I'm kinda surprised it took this long for someone to debunk these, good read

Huh. I always wondered how those compensated for that sweep effect. I guess it never did.
I always wondered that too... as well as beam spread over long distances.Originally posted by D'z Nutz

But I always thought that LIDAR had to be tripod mounted when in use in Alberta. I don't think that is, or ever was, the case though.
That being said, I have never seen one used without a tripod mount.
Looking around
Wondering what became
Of what I once knew
Yeah, I always assumed the pulse frequency was quick enough to negate any sweeping or hand holding shakes. I had no idea it was that long.
^^^ I have never seen one used WITH a tripod. They are always crouching behind a bush, using the window sill of a car, etc. I know they have tripods, but they never seen to use them (when I drive by anyway). Almost always free-standing or using their car for support in some way.
i have seen tripods quite a few times, ie: glenmore trail under 18st bridge
2002 VW Golf GT TDI
2016 VW Passat BiTDI
^ So does this mean I can print that presentation and take it to court 'if' I get a LIDAR ticket
It depends on the officer, I guess. Sometimes they'll do it through the car window, then flick on the lights and chase you down. RCMP and Sheriffs do this on the highways, and CPS do it on the high-speed roads in the city.Originally posted by bart

But then again, I've seen CPS Traffic on 80-speed roads (WB 16th Ave @ Stoney for example) using the tripod, and stepping out into the lanes to stop vehicles.
I'm in Lethbridge, but same here.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

I don't know much about the exact topic, but it may be what happened to me a few years ago.

BTW. Awesome find OP
That was, the most phenomenal articular Ive read on here in a long time.
"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side"
A+ Thank you for sharing.
