Kickr snap or the tacx vortex are about your budget.
LK - do you drive an S3? think i was behind you on 4th street NB earlier this evening. you're a speed demon out there!
me? no way man, I'm a law abiding citizen.
Is there a mountain biking version?
Too lazy to watch a YouTube video? I don't think cycling is for you! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Just watch Zwift videos, course reviews or even races to get an idea.

Too lazy to watch a bunch to find a good one. By lazy I mean I'd never actually do this, as I ride outside all winterThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Still looking to get into this... my thru axle seems like a pain though. Surprised that manufacturers aren’t including these with the higher end (ie smart) trainers
Why don't you just get a new bike without thru axles? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Ha ya that’d go well with the wife..
Ok, pretty well ready to pull the trigger on a trainer, but struggling to find a converter that will work on this thru axle...help?!
Assuming you are looking for a smart trainer and don't already own a power meter:
At $650 direct drive is out of your budget. This leaves smart conventional trainers.
The cycleops magnus supports the 142mm axle adapter that cycleops sells. The Tacx Vortex can also be used with their 142mm axle kit. The Wahoo Kickr Snap also is available with a 142mm axle kit it looks like. I have not used ANY of these trainers so please research and find out which one fits your budget and has the features you want, keeping in mind that you'll also need to get an ANT+ USB stick ($65?), a front wheel block ($20-30?), a trainer tire (recommended, $40?) and maybe a sweat net (recommend$30?).
If you want to buy local and don't mind going to the bike shop in Royal Oak (Cyclepath bought out the bike shop and rebranded all shops under the bike shop now btw), go talk to Adam or Brad. They'll help you out. Use me as referral and they may even give you a discount, no promise though.
Ya probably gonna go by Purecycle on the way home and chat with them about it. I can definitely spend more then $650, just would be nice to be around that mark.. MEC is handy cause if i hate it or cant make it work, i can take it back
Ok, ordered this guy through MEC at ~20% off.

seems decent
You don’t get the higher gradient resistance but it will do enough to hurt. Do you have a fan?
ya not sure i need that higher gradient or not at this point..guess we'll see how i like it when i try it out and then can always upgrade it to a better oneThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You'd be hard pressed to hold 700w for a minute. I'd be curious to see what happens when you sprint above 800w though - is that just the maximum it can read?
how often you above 800w? I dont have a power meter so watts are pretty foreign to me other then the one time i took a spin classThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
