haha reminds me of when people didn't like it when you would refer to their srt-4 as a neon.
I would consider this car to be different though as it has a trick AWD system.

Haha, was gonna post the exact same thing. That post was so bitter, it felt like 2005 all over again.Originally posted by dirtsniffer

Every single RS is going to sell immediately. They don't need Joe Public to understand how it's different from a regular Focus because anybody remotely interested in the car already does.
If you need to point to the badge to prove what your car is capable of then you're buying the wrong car.
What if Ford wants to make a Fiesta RS? How would that work then. There's nothing wrong with calling it a Focus. Look inside and you'll see it looks almost identical to the Focus ST.Originally posted by mzdspd
Ford should have never called this the Focus RS.. It should have been called just the RS..
Its not a focus and so many people keep saying I could never buy a 50K focus.. Well it isnt a focus. It just has the same body..
The entire engine, transmission, awd and suspension is different. The chassis is also 30-40% stiffer.
Thats like saying I could never pay 50k for a lancer.. You are buying an evo.. not a lancer. Or I could never buy a 100K 3 series..
If you're buying this car for 50k and you are concerned people will think you're driving a 50k Focus, no name change will make those insecurities go away imo.
Has anyone test driven on of these things yet? Seeing it compared on top gear peaked my interest.
Operator Of Beyond's Official Cardano pool.
Magical internet money for everyone!
I don't think any dealer is going to let you test drive one sadly.Originally posted by jacky4566

Saw a Nitrous Blue one heading west on the Trans Canada near 16th around 6pm yesterday.
Brought back memories for me. Although I loved my de-badged, de winged SRT-4 Neon. Ultimate troll car. I wanted to get some SX 2.0 badges, but they were stupid money from the dealer.Originally posted by dirtsniffer

Ha ha ha. It's like pulling teeth to get a Subaru dealership to let you test drive an STI and those cars are widely available. Since every RS arriving is already sold or marked up there's really no incentive to give out test drives.Originally posted by jacky4566

Looks like the first couple of cars that are out there have some big issues with power delivery. Down 50whp on dyno between runs and couple very slow runs at the strip. Hopefully it's not a sign of things to come.

Early adopters get to pay more for their cars and go through the R&D for the smart buyers that wait for the kinks to be ironed out and initial demand to die down.
The cars have been out in Europe for a while now and there's been no talk of this so something is different and I'm sure there's an explanation.
The early 1.6T had engine fire recalls iirc. I'm sure this too will be sorted out eventually haha.Originally posted by Sugarphreak
That sucks, I wonder what is going on
I saw a completely stock Fiesta dyno recently... it was putting down 205.2hp and 239.3tq to the wheels, lol.
Hey.... think I can check out the car when you get it? I'm starting to lose faith mine will ever arrive. Placed my deposit in October, still nothing.Originally posted by Disoblige
Thanks for the concern guys!
Currently, the car's been selected to be scheduled, but there is no specific date yet for it to be produced. Been hoping for this date for a long time because once I get a VIN, things are easier to track on the Ford ETIS website.
Golf R looking mighty tempting as a replacement lately..

haha yeah sure. The problem is, my car is scheduled to be produced at the plant this Thursday, so it probably will take a while for it to come too.Originally posted by inline6turbo

Do you have a VIN yet? You could inquire w/ Ford Service to see if you have a build date yet, or it might even be produced and on a boat here already!
Oh man it's been such a shit show for me. Maclin really screwed me over. I had to fight just to get an order number from them and had to complain to Ford Canada. They oversold their allocations I guess. Last time I called my order wasn't even scheduled yet. Not sure what that means for me. Likely that in going to be a 2017. Nothing like waiting 14 months for a car... Wait no... A focus lol.Originally posted by Disoblige

Wow, very nice!
Make sure you go through the list of things to go over when you pick it up. Lots of dealers don't know how to properly PDI this car, and there may be some deficiencies coming from the factory.

Great thanks! Looks like nothing too serious. There was a guy on the RS forums who drove a week with the suspension blocks in before realizing there was something wrong

The winter wheels and tires get shipped separately from the car. Same goes for the car cover.
Apparently on the Ford sheet it says: Contact the dealership for storage and/or transportation of the wheel/tire assembly after sale.

Interesting to note is the sheet says 2016-2018, implying the planned production is till 2018.
Wonder if they can keep up with the demand as they cancelled a couple hundred orders already since they couldn't produce enough 2016's before the 2017 cut-off.

Yes my wheels and cover are on freight to a local dealer. Likely beat the car lol.
