I have some fucking malware on mine, and I can't fucking figure out yet how to get rid of it, nor do I know where it came from.
Keeps adding an extension into Chrome that goes nuts running pop-ups and ads. I go into chrome, disable and delete it, and I am good for a couple days, them BAM, it's back.
Suddenly, after reading this thread, my malware doesn't seem so bad...

If its CryptoLocker, it can apparently be decrypted now. Post or PM me the details if you like, I can try and see what I can find for you. If its Cryptolocker, see the link posted above.Originally posted by blairtruck

A Single Bitcoin is roughly $300 right now.
quadrigacx.com is the only Canadian exchange right now. I could sell you one quickly to if you want ($250 for a fellow beyonder).
For future reference backblaze.com is probably the best bang for buck online/offline storage storage. $50/yr for unlimited storage.
Stealth22 are you sure? You may be right but I havnt heard of this being broken.

How do you avoid this from happening to you? Keep system updated and what do you need to do? Keep your important files saved to a external drive or what?
Don't use IE. Don't browse sketchy sites. Don't open unknown emails/attachments.Originally posted by mr2mike

"CoinVault is distributed via emails with ZIP attachments that contain executables that are disguised as PDF files. These PDF files pretend to be invoices, purchase orders, bills, complaints, or other business communications. When you double-click on the fake PDF, it will infect your computer with the CoinVault infection and install malware files in the %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\ folder."
Had the exact same problem, was driving my nuts. A quick scan and delete with MalwareBytes took care of it. Hopefully that program isn't some sort of a trojan!Originally posted by spikerS

There is always this method. It isn't perfect but some files are better than none.
