Default April 25/26 events at Fort Macleod

    Saturday practise: http://msreg.com/April25Event
    Sunday championship: http://msreg.com/April26Event

There is a new feature this year for events at Fort Macleod (thanks to Motorsportreg) -- you can sign up for an event, but choose to pay on site instead of online. This doesn't mean that we love to handle cash at events, but it does allow you to register even if you aren't sure you can make it. All of your vehicle and other info will then be pre-loaded into the computer, which should make registration faster.

So, if you think you will attend, but aren't sure, sign up anyway!

As time permits (and you sign up for events on Motorsportreg), I will also pre-assign (and reserve) your permanent numbers (CSCC/SASC members get first pick).

After 7 months on snow tires, more like "time to remember how to drive". Much dust needs shaking of this year

The plan is to have a mini novice school on Saturday, April 25 ... emphasis on an introduction to solo/autox competition such that you are not just flung into the water and told to swim or drown (although I suppose that could be a strong motivator! ).

My idea is to provide a fun and low pressure environment for newbies to the sport. It can be intimidating to just jump into a competition without some instruction.

Hopefully this will get you through the first day relatively "unscathed".

So c'mon out and have some fun and learn to handle your vehicle a bit better.

Question: Would people like to have an introductory classroom session prior to this? We could talk about some basic information about rules, car classes, theory of high performance driving, racing lines, car preparation and other "stuff" such that you are more prepared to hit the track beforehand. This would also be a good opportunity to meet new enthusiastic car people as well; get to know some of us better etc.

We have a great (and friendly) bunch of autoxers locally and they are a very capable as drivers with trophies to show from SCCA (USA) and Canadian National level competitions! I, personally, am excited about the local motorsport community and all they have achieved. There is more ...

Are there any special regulations regarding convertibles, specifically a 91 325i?

^As a participant last year in an MX-5, here is an unofficial answer... nope! Unless your car is banned in the SCCA rulebook as a rollover risk (like my poor Fiesta ) there shouldn't be an issue.

Roll bars for convertibles are required on a race track but not at auto x.

Yep, no roll bars required ... unless you are in a Prepared or Modified class.

Nice! Hope they work to your liking I'm not sure which car in bringing, half of me wants to take the turbo Miata just because I haven't auto x'd it yet and I'm itching to try out all the new goodies but I'm told the fort Mac track is more of a speedy track than red deer so I'm thinking of taking the Srt.

It was a good time. I learned a lot. I need a few more years to learn to drive and more money for consumables before I step into a faster car.

I learnt that a better front spring and more aggressive sway bar can make a pretty big difference. Now if I could just "upgrade" the driver a bit I'd be in business.

I could use a few more decades.

Amen, I also think a real set of tires will help me substantially.

We're you in the black 135i or white 135i?
