Sure there are incentives/holdbacks/rebates whatever you want to call them to the dealer from the manufacturer so they can make a profit if they sell at $500.00 over 'dealer invoice' but in my eyes that lowers the actual dealer cost. Sure the manufacturer sells the vehicle to the dealer for $50k and provides and invoice however they really only pay $45k for that vehicle because of incentives/holdbacks/rebates. So in my eyes the dealer invoice is worthless.

Have you ever used Unhaggle or Car Cost Canada? From my experience I can pay for the report and I get a call/email 30 minutes later from the Unhaggle/Car Cost Canada 'preferred dealer' (which actually means the dealer who pays Unhaggle/Car Cost Canada for the lead). I can offer a set percentage over the 'dealer invoice' price and a deal can be done in 30 minutes. To me it just seems too easy.

I can be completely wrong on all of this but it's just my thought. I've worked in retail/wholesale/manufacturing and this information isn't just given out the way car dealers supposedly do.
I've used carcost many times, and that's how I shop generally.

I'd like to invite our resident salesman Ryan to chime in. Dealer invoice is what they pay. The manufacturer incentives are always deducted from the invoice price.

Nobody really knows about dealer holdback, but for example it's 3% on a new GT-R.

I've seen a SVT dealer invoice on a GT350R and lo and behold it matches. They wouldn't allow me to take a copy unfortunately.

Anyway you're entitled to your opinion of course. I just don't want false information spread is all.

Dealer invoice is dealer invoice. This is what we pay a manufacturer. This "kick back" everyone refers to is never guaranteed nor is it pre determined. Only if target is hit does the dealership get a percentage back from the manufacturer. And in most cases its 1% of dealer invoice so on a vehicle that cost us $40,000 they give us $400. Its safe to say the dealer invoice is truly dealer invoice.

Dealer invoice is dealer invoice. Invoice does not include all the bullshit upsells like window etching, non optional 3m, etc. Where they charge you thousands and it costs hundreds. The kick backs discussed are also usually in the thousands. These companies aren't non-profit and make tons of money off sales. the people arguing they don't and feel they are getting a steal of a deal are oblivious.

Dealers make most of their money on service and parts. New car sales is not where its at.

I wish people would quit calling them "kickbacks". Volume rebates are a pretty common thing for retail distribution. Nothing new.

Again I was referencing the fact that invoice is invoice. So if you can buy a car close to dealer invoice less any manufacturer rebates its a good deal. Now what you decide to purchase after the fact from the dealership is up to you and whether those items are profitable is another totally different argument. But we were talking about the sale of a vehicle and the pricing in reference to that sale.

Never even made it to see the Murano. She was set on the NX and with the rate reductions on finance/lease compared to Nissan it made sense to me. Went with the black with red interior F Sport 3.

I know a girl that financed a new wrangler over 96 months

Worst part, is she was typically good with money, and is well educated etc. It was kind of an impulse buy, so weird.

If you are not able to negotiate a further cash discount on a car, the longer term at 0% the better.

I wouldn't hesitate to finance a car over 96 months, all else being equal. (It never is.)

Do these 84+ month loans have matching warranty terms? If so, then it's not a bad deal.

Some people can't handle the pressure. Sales people get paid to do their jobs well. And the whole women are emotional creatures too...

If the option is available at 0% I'd take it too.

Financing a car over warranty period is risky anyway. You will be upside down (owe more than what the car is worth) and will have repair bills and car payment at the same time.

Being upside down on a car loan is not necessarily an issue.

People get too caught up in the details, but really should be managing to their overall balance sheet.
