Hi,
I am looking to buy VW Golf this week in Calgary!
Can someone suggest good places to get 3M for hood - 24 inches, fender and mirrors.
Also, get nice tints on my new 5 door baby.
Thanks in advance!

Will contact both!
As a side note the Calgary Police website states that tinting is not allowed because of safety concerns as film doesn't allow the glass to break into small pieces and can be fatal in accidents. Are there any tinting films that are safe in case of accidents and allow the glass to break as it's designed to shatter?
Without tints car doesn't look cool

Why are tinted windows illegal?
If the vehicle is involved in a collision the glass is designed to break into small pieces, the window film doesn’t allow this to happen and the glass can become a large sharp object, possibly causing injury to the occupants.
Tinted windows decrease the vision depth that a driver observes through the window, reducing his/her perception of objects through the window.
Police officers are unable to observe how many occupants may be in the vehicle during traffic stops.
Civilians are unable to identify occupants should the vehicle be involved in a hit and run or possible road rage incident.

Ill take my chances. Last winter i got t-boned and both side windows broke into 100 pieces. If it weren't for my tint, i would have been picking glass out of my skin and not to mention getting glass pieces everywhere which is a bitch to clean.Originally posted by zimba

I've had my 3M film done on all my cars by The Auto Protectors. Tinting was done through Shawdow Tint.

Funny to note, new cars are coming with laminated glass on the side windows. Throw the safety argument out of the tint debate.Originally posted by G-ZUS

I have booked an appointment within Auto Mall to get Xpel Ultimate done on my vehicle - I am using Xpel Ultimate after reading several reviews by exotic car owners in States (Ferrari Spyder, Bentley Silver Spur, Bugati to name a few) who were saying that Xpel beats 3M Pro and Ventureshield.
I'll report back once it's applied on this coming Wednesday.

Tint Tech did XPEL and tint on my BRZ. Mobile Reflections did the XPEL on the Golf, and we'll likely be going to Tint Tech for the tint.
Shadow Tint did mine - I am super anal and they did a flawless job.
They also removed the old tint for far less cost than expected.
Highly agree. He did the entire front end of my 4Runner. Full hood, fenders, bumper, pillars, mirrors and roof.Originally posted by msixty

So I am thinking of going with Justin for Xpel for the paint protection as Shadow tint did pretty ordinary job with 3M on my current Acura TL.
I will try Curtis or Jared for Tinting.
One step done: Got Xpel Ultimate installed last night. It looks pretty neat and Justin did great work on the following:
1. Bumper
2. 30' Hood Coverage
3. Fenders
4. Mirrors
I am impressed by his professionalism and quality of work and he was superfast as well - got 10 year warranty on product as well and any installation issues (which I am not seeing any as yet *touch wood*) I can simply get time and get it retouched up.
All this for pretty fair price seems a very good deal and experience.
Now; for tinting I will go for Curtis and report back!
FYI, Shadow Tint mainly does 3M Pro series now, you really have to push hard in order to get them to use Xpel Ultimate. Be warned, when they did my Xpel they used the kit, they did not custom cut from a sheet. I'm not sure if this is still the case as they have moved to the 3M Pro Series.
For my WRX, I went with Xpel Ultimate and did the full front(incl. headlights, fogs, turn signals, forehead strip on roof), wing mirrors, rocker panel and side sills. Went and got the Xpel kit on Amazon for the door edges and kick plates. Shadow Tinting also did 28% tints from my B-pillar back(the problems of driving a cop magnet.... )
Overall they did a good job on the install....wish they custom cut the PPF though.
The only reason I did not go with Shadow Tint this time was my last vehicle they did a poor job - it was in 2012. I guess it was boom time and no business cared about quality at that time.
The kit they used on the hood and fenders seemed a couple of centimeters short and it still shows.
Issue with such a job is: it always keeps me reminding at least twice/thrice a day to go any other place but the one that did the last job.
