    Well, whatever

The point still stands that it's meaningless to say, "In such and such country, the average wage is only $200 dollars a month".

Why do you keep insisting that?

That wage figure represents purchasing power of everything but locally produced goods. It's far from meaningless. Adjustments are only one piece of the puzzle - and a small one.

It's meaningless because different areas have vastly different costs of living.

Someone earning $200 a month has far less access to goods and services than someone earning $200 a day in another country.

It's hardly meaningless to draw that distinction. Few globally traded goods and services scale to local cost of living.

Compare the cost of a grocery cart full of food in Canada, to somewhere like Algeria.

    Canada? $200, Algeria? $20.

Although groceries and utilities might be cheaper, its still valid to represent to wage figure in USD.
A lot of food and goods are being imported to Venezuela and they have to be bought in USD. so if someone makes 3 times the minimum wage so $40-50 a month it will still take them 2-3 months of their total income to buy a pair of runners that cost $100. Someone making minimum wage can only dream of buying brand new Jordans for example.
