I made the same mistake, the Nest is not even worth $130 IMO. Between the brutal Google Home app and the Nest reading 4-5 degrees high I just swapped it out for an ecobee. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
i ended up putting it in at my old house and taking my old nests with me.. next home owners issue now haha
They need phones for ad revenue? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
There's a reason why Google makes such few phones directly. They offload the risk to other companies. At least they got that part sorta right.
I think they feel a need to drive the hardware side to some degree. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Pixels were needed to drive a base standard for software update timing as well as implementation of android features. Pre Pixel/Nexus nobody updated their phones. They really needed to drive updates by setting a minimum standard with vanilla android to force guys like Samsung to actually update the software and not leave it stagnant post launch. Then there's functionality that android creates, and guys like Samsung not using it and building their own feature, making the experience inconsistent. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Has nothing to do driving revenue or anything, or driving hardware. It's purely to get android manufactures to not be idiots and hold them to a standard.
