Some folks saved their travel budgets for three years and are now "price insensitive".

What I meant was, people don’t seem to care that prices have doubled, things are still booked solid.
Oooh I know what you meant haha

Oahu accommodation is alot more expensive too. We are going in December and found that prices have at least doubled since we last went pre-covid. A big part of that is all the new taxes too. The place we booked is $750 taxes on a $1800 rental.

Was hoping to spend a couple days at the Disney resort with the kid but can't justify $1K/night for a garden view room. .. Sorry kiddo.
We will see you there! Will be there in Dec as well over Xmas.
Prices for accommodations have easily doubled for sure since pre-covid.

At least car rentals seem to have stabilized. Or long covid is messing with my memory.

I didn’t notice any change in car rental prices. Haven’t gone up at all.

Car rental seems to be fluctuating quite a bit since we first booked our flights back in May. Back then it was ~$1300 for a mini van, now it's back down to ~$900 with the same rental company.

Been hearing this, people not being travel elsewhere b/c vaccination requirements, and recouping lost revenues for reasons hotel prices have doubled, sometimes tripled, compared to pre-covid. It's now minimum $300 to 400/night for a summer night in Banff. Fairmont lake louise won't even let you book unless its for a full week!

Regardless of reason I'm concerned that prices won't ever adjust back down...they'll just stay where they are until inflation catches up. Inflation/price hikes whatever you want to call it tends to be sticky. Doubt we'll ever see pre-covid hotel pricing even after a severe recession. Would love to be wrong on this one.

You people don’t have a Hawaiian vacation property?

What are you students or something.

Sounds like something someone with too little capital would say.

We paid $800 for one night at the Moose Hotel & Suites in Banff a couple weeks ago. The Rimrock wanted $2400 for one night.

You could at least leave a nice bottle of wine on the counter after you leave next time.

Our wedding date if fast approaching, a few guests opted for refunds after the 4th date change and kept the deposit down instead. Fast forward to this month and a lot are realizing that the discount was percentage rather than flat rate (note: vacasa sucks, hope they don’t buy out the company that has your reservation) and are cancelling or spending a lot more money than previous attempts.

Once I get this wedding over with, I’m with @Buster , travelling is overrated. I’ll stick to Hawaii every couple years and just book for the wife and I.

    But sir,

It is impossible to get a good understanding of what Angkor Wat looks like unless you spend 2-3 full days to get there on planes and shit. And then 2-3 full days to get back!

Inflation and gouging around that area are insane now, we paid 470 for a night in lake louise in a mediocre motel on a monday night

Kinda sorta sounds like you actually like travelling because you must've travelled before and you booked a destination wedding and will travel again in the future. To be fair you're trying to book a destination wedding at the worst possible time in our lives(hopefully this is it)

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

I booked it pre-covid and have rebooked it 4 additional times due to government general incompetence. I enjoy Hawaii but the act of getting there becomes more of a pain in the ass every year.

Zero issues now. No requirements needed anymore.
