The chief engineer of the mustang project said they really love the voodoo engine, therefore we’ll see it in something else soon I think.

Man that's rough. Even the 19 GT350 starts at 76k here. Crazy how just a few short years ago you could get a 660hp 13/14 Shelby gt500 for 65k...

I don't think I would buy any mustang (classics exempt of course). I think the name has become too diluted to be considered anything special anymore. Even the cobras, GT500, etc...
I think Ford should come out with something that fills the gap between the Mustang and the GT, Something that directly competes with the Corvettes and such. It just feels like Ford is trying to force the mustang to be something it just isn't anymore. Like if someone bought a $120k mustang and showed it to me, I would just shrug my shoulders and be "meh".

I mean. Even the current 4cyl ecoboost mustang is as fast as a mustang GT from 10 years ago, and likely much quicker around a track.
Doesn’t seem particularly watered down to me. If anything mustangs have recently returns to form compared to the trash Ford was selling in the early to late 2000’s.
This new thing, while not for everyone and very expensive, is over 700 warrantied horsepower from factory. “Diluted” lol.
Ford will sell every one they can make.

My point went right over your head and you missed it. When I say it is diluted, I meant the mustang name. In the late 90's to mid 10's, Ford made them so cheap, every kid was buying them and abusing them and because Ford needed to make them cheap, they cut performance. I remember being impressed by the mustang as a kid, but I mean, they are so common these days. The Mustang brand is "meh" at best in my books now. Hence why I said that Ford needs to leave the mustang in the realms of Camaros, and either resurrect an old performance name, or create a new one, and use that to target the $90-$150k range that gives it a more desirable persona to compete with the mid to high end 'Vettes. Just my opinion. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

By that logic they should stop calling them Fords.
I’m less hung up on the name on the boot and far more interested in the product itself.

You like to use corvette as an example. Well they drop the Chevrolet right from the name on that one. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yea, I disagree with you that Mustangs have become diluted to the point where it is not worth it to call them Mustangs. I think the brand name is still very valuable. People love Mustangs, regardless of how cheap they are, heck I get far more turned heads and compliments driving my $5,000 V6 convertible than I do driving my C63. Mustangs are instantly recognizable, sell like hot cakes, and have been producing mind blowing performance in recent generations such that a lot of people still have lots of respect for the name. These over the top Shelby’s are iconic and always will be.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Actually I think being a Ford holds them back FAR more than being called a Mustang.
But yea massive facepalm on my part, it’s clear here who is arguing for the sake of arguing.

That's fine. That's your opinion. Like I said, I think the brand isn't all that shit hot to me. I am not saying that they don't have performance, or good engineering, I am saying the name doesn't do anything for me anymore. You could park this new $120k thing in front of me and I will yawn. Right now, today, if you include this new car, a mustang can be anything between <$30k to over $120k. What makes it special? Like I said, to me, it's not anymore. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Now, if you rebadged this new mustang and called it a Torino or Falcon for example, and redesigned the envelope to bring it into the new era and separate it from the generic Mustang name, I would be more excited over it.

Got it. Throw all objectivity out the window and giving it a random name would make this car better.
Makes sense.
