Do people just go to those tents at superstore or wherever? What's the best place to go?

I use calalta autoglass for chip repairs, good price and service from the north location.
Yea I went with deco and for $100/vehicle you get unlimited rock chip repairs for a year. Everytime I get even the smallest one I get it fixed right away
Only if you're a fool who likes to part with his money all too easily, total rip off compared to Calalta. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Will fuck off, again.
Speedy glass does a way better job then parking lot guys. I now have glass insurance from TD and the repairs are free from speedy with the program
Speedy repairs were far less visible then the parking lot guys.
Speedy may be different but crystal was no better than deco. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
So I’ve had 7 chips filled by deco this year and my year for $100 hasn’t even been used up.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
No matter how small I get them filled immediately.
What would calalta charge for similar? (note would be 7 separate appointments so wouldn’t get any multiple chip per visit discount)
I’d be willing to go with them if they could do better.
Yea what is the going price for a one off?
Cal Alta did ok work on my last car, but I didn’t pay since my windshield was still guaranteed through them. The guy was out back doing like a million of them though and it felt a bit rushed imo and a better job could have been done.
100 bucks for a year... I think I have gotten maybe 3 or 4 chips in my life.

I just go to calalta to have the work done. Way better quality those the guys in the orange tents and I think it’s a little cheaper too. The tent guys are useless. But I guess since they’re their own small business, wonder if they’ll take cash haha.

I go to greggs or crappy tire and buy the repair kits for 10$ and fix them myself.. Very easy to do.
Go to an actual glass shop, not the tents. CalAlta has always been good to me.
While I don’t have the patience for this people are talking like it’s hard to do??This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
As I mentioned crystal vs deco I saw no difference. It’s not rocket science, it’s easier than an oil change.
I guess I’m more interested in convenience for the negligible difference. The deco kid lives in my neighbourhood and works weekends so never have to deal with dropping a car off during work hours for a simple chip repair.
You are better off financially if you just go no windshield every couple of years. You fix 4 chips, that = one windshield. Pay for the unlimited chips per year for $100 = half a windshield.
I replace ours almost yearly but we also do a lot of highway driving. $220 for Q5
220 bucks is going to get you a wavy ass windshield for a Q5...

I'm surprised to hear that the tents are not as good in terms of quality. Is this really a technical operation? A tent dude probably has done 10,000 just like any other glass guy.
Cal Alta did mine in an alley.
Probably just a difference in tech skill more than anything?

lol. there is ONE deco location open right now. Buying a year's supply of something isn't useful if they don't operate. No thanks.
No distortion, at all. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I can say they aren't as strong as OEM glass when it comes to the impact that rocks do have. I feel that rocks that normally just level a divot will actually crack instead. But visually, both replacements have visually been perfect.
Same with the two i have had on my last truck.
Haha "closed for the season", "the season" being the time of year 99% people need windshield repairs in...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They do mobile calls, their tents are closed sure........
