To be fair, it’s not like the luxury brands in Calgary are known for their after sales experiences...
Service guys at Kia really any worse than the guys at BMW or MB who think they are hot shit?

That reminds me of the time we were cross-shopping a GL with a new Durango Citadel or whatever. (Same platform.) I took my wife to the Dodge dealership. First time I've ever been in one. The look on her face through the experience was priceless...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Yup, that's why I made the comment. Even Hyundai knows their own dealership experience is shit, so they want to get the customer out. Kia is even worse. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Haha yup. Kia, Dodge, Chrysler, etc. seem to all get the salespeople nobody else will hire, and seem to have the sleaziest managers moving up from the trailer-office used car lots. And it's not just the salespeople, since you can find a bad salesperson anywhere (they are just less common at good dealerships), it's the whole dealership experience. Night and day difference with the more reputable brands in my experience. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I've never dealt with Kia or Hyundai dealers. Are they worse than the local Subaru dealerships?
My only experience at Calgary Hyundai was the worst dealership experience I've ever had. Including the time one tried to fleece me for more money after the paperwork was signed. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I can attest to the dealerships not having a bloody clue how to sell a 50k+ vehicle. This isn’t just Calgary based. My friend who bought one went through 4 different dealers and they were all shitty.
He bought it from an Edmonton dealer and is from Lethbridge. Part of the deal was an I closed trailer to bring it down. They brought it down in an open trailer on gravel roads and it had multiple chips that had to be repaired beige the ceramic counting could be done. The dealer didn’t think chips were a big deal and suggested just using a pen to fix them.
I have about 6 more examples but they are just repeats of that exact uneducated behaviour. At least when I bought my BMW the dealer realized that a scratch on the car before delivery is not ok. Kia is used to selling cheap cars and the dealers are treating their current models the same. They need to retrain their staff something terrible.

So what I get with a new 50K Kia Stinger...
- Shitty sales practices
- Shitty service
- Kia is the Wal-Mart of the car world "Great Value" when new = lousy resale value
- Unknown reliability
Seems like a decent car but a expensive Kia is a hard pass.
To be fair Downtown Mercedes has been top notch with service for me. I literally drop my cars off for any little problem and they fix it no questions asked and then shuttle me home or pay for my cab. I deal with Jesse and Lola there as advisors and they're great. They even replaced a $1200 windshield for me free of charge. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Lastly, they have unreal coffee there.

I almost wanted to buy another Lexus after experiencing the quality with my RC-F. Kinda interesting that Calgary Lexus, where I actually bought the car from, didn't make me feel like a VIP when I'm dealing with their service department. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Kill probably just feels that way since he came from BMW which is like the armpit of luxury brands. He just needs to give it some time dealing with service with his Benz. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

For 40-50k I’ve been looking at 2013+ A6s. There are a few nice 3.0T examples in Vancouver with CPO warranty. I’d really love a S6 but maybe in a year or two once they come down in prices. I refuse to buy any new vehicle as the depreciation is just not worth it. I looked at newer TLX A Specs but they are essentially the same since the 4G TL came out in 2010.

honestly if it has a competitive chassis, reasonable interior quality... why not lease one? It may be marketed to attract outside its reputation/league, but if you were to compare this to its classmates, Ford Fusion Sport AWD, FWD Malibu, Accord, Camry, Maxima, etc.. go for it and hand the keys back if the car does end up a lemon or is upside down on the risidual. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Genesis G70 has better lease rate, residual and all maintenance included. Even at $5K more, the monthly lease rate is $100 less. G70 basically has the same engine and underpinning of Stinger. I'm sure that guy they poached from M division also tuned this one so the only difference is wheelbase, size and style. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Stinger is only attractive as cash purchase.
100% agreed. My friend who picked up his did this exact thing as the lease and finance rate were hot garbage. Its funny how when i was in my 20's i bought cars i liked and didn't care about much else. Now i specifically target vehicles with 0% financing, guess that means I'm getting old. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Lexus = best service anywhere.
Everything else is "meh" by comparison.

This is exactly what my father ended up doing. Picked up a 2016 A6 3.0T S-line and most of the warranty left. Immaculate with 20km. 0-60 in 4.7 sec has it on par with the S4/C43's, all the options including massage seats and a LCD screen that actually disappears into the dash instead of the horrid hot-glued-on iPad variants everyone else uses now. Pricing was in the $50's, new it would have been almost $90K.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
A 2013-2014 S6 was by far his #1 choice, but going into retirement on a fixed income he didn't want a $100K+ (MSRP) car with lots of power, lots of turbo plumbing, and a DCT. It absolutely blows everything else he was looking at out of the water though. You want at least a 2014, they fixed a lot of little issues with the 2013's.

Leasing removes all those negatives for the most part, but it's not a great lease deal unfortunately. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
An all-new car in an all-new segment (for Kia/Hyundai) needs time to prove itself. They should be giving much better incentives for the guinea pigs IMO. Reliability won't be known for 4-5 years unless they have problems right off the bat.

For someone who is looking to purchase used you can't go wrong with a 2013+ A6.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Had one for three years, with every option (Radar, night vision, HID, heated/cooled seats, etc.).
Original purchase price was $79k off memory, lost a bit of money on it but remains my favorite car to this day.
