The season is officially under way. FP1 has Mercedes up front, expected to take pole with their new even higher horsepower “party mode” qualifying power boost.

McLaren ran into technical issues, but they’re looking to be at the front of the rest of the pack, behind the top 3 teams of Ferrari, Mercedes, and RBR. Currently 7/10ths behind the RBR, the best benchmark available with the same engine.

Australia brings in a new 3rd DRS zone at the exit of the high speed turns 11/12 to aid in closing up the cars prior to turn 13.

Max looks to be in great form. Too bad Daniel has a 3 place penalty already.

McLaren haven't figured out their exhaust issue from testing, and lost an hour in FP1.
Alonso behind Grosjean w/ a 2017 Ferrari engine.
McLaren goes from saying they will challenge RBR to Haas as the benchmark .

My speculation/prediction is that Max and Seb will clash and Lewis will walk away with the points and the title this year.

That halo is so bad. Why even have the driver cam. Also that they have a second set of start lights now as they were having troubles seeing them past the halo Can't wait to see tracks with elevation where they cant see anything up the hill.
