It's funny to see that the RS has the lowest weight/hp.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Also interesting to see such high 0-60's from the Subaru and Golf. Maybe tires?
Subaru went to 19" wheels in 2018 and their straight line times have increased over the 2015-2017 versions as the EJ257 isn't a strong engine compared to the competition and the extra mass of the wheels seems to have taken a toll. At $50K USD for the RA I think it's time for the STI to be put down like an old horse. As for the Golf R that's a pretty slow time but the manual versions have always been considerably slower than DSG. If they put a DSG in this competition it likely finishes first in acceleration times. Type R is a pretty amazing performer considering it's FWD and should be at a disadvantage to these cars. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The RS sure starts slowing down a lot after that initial launch - the CTR would be pulling on it past 60/70 MPH. It also has by far the worst breaking distance. In that group you don't really seem to get much for that extra $5-15K except AWD.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I dunno about the tires, all the cars were on a max performance summer tire though. My guess is that the Golf R did not have DSG to keep things consistent, so it got a lower 0-60.
Any updates @heavyD ?
I ditched the idea of the CTR early this year, the 40 year old me cannot justify the cost when there's a plethora of performance vehicles in used form at that price range.
I got the M2. Very happy with the decision.
Well done.
Wish it wasn't so damn small for me, I would have had one last year. Enjoy it bud.
Thanks. It's a bit small but I'm used to smaller cars. Biggest surprise so far is how good the factory exhaust sounds. Sounds like a domestic V8 rather than a turbocharged 6-cyl.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I still can't believe that this thread exists, lol
did you opt for the M performance exhaust, imo it's worth every pennyThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Did you get the vanilla M2 or the competition?

Great choice. What a tough decision! They're both awesome choices for different reasons. That's a coin flip. Pictures? Stick shift?
Sorry to disappoint you but I got the vanilla M2 because it was a good deal. Competitions started arriving in the fall and to be honest I would have got a discounted M3/M4 over the M2C at MSRP as it's a little on the high side. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Are you daily driving it? How tall are you? I've been considering an M2. TIA.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I would test drive an M240i long term ask them if you can take it for the afternoon. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I never found the interior space in the 2 any worse than the 3 or 4 for the driver and front passenger. Rear passengers is a completely different story.

I'm <6' so not tall so I'm good with sunroof but from what I have read there's no issues unless you are in the range or 6'3" or taller and then you best take a long drive to see if you are comfortable as said above. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I personally wasn't comfortable in the M2 at all. I mean my M3 was fine - not necessarily comfortable but didn't make me feel claustrophobic but that's how I felt in the M2. I am 6.1 and should be about 220-230 lbs. I don't even know how many suit pants I ripped getting in and out of my M3's in the past lol. I feel like if I was skinnier, perhaps 200lbs or less, M2 would have been much better.
Thanks guys. I'm about the same size as shak, 6'2" 220, will go for a test drive this weekend.
I was the same size as Shak... I find the e90 roomy! Haha... and I even came from an LS430... found the interiors very similar between 3 and 5 series for space
