They're scheduling maintenance to look to see what's wrong. Speeds fluctuating between 100 and 300 during tests. Pings are all over the map too, from as low as 4 to as high as 15 between tests. What a downgrade haha.

Most people probably do because most people aren't tech savvy and its not bad enough for them to notice. If there is a problem they call Shaw. They also have Shaw employees preaching about how amazing they are and how you don't need your own router (I don't know if the XB6 is or isn't, but it weighs probably 5X the old Hitron modem haha). This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Not the best sample size, but literally every rental property or AirBnB I have ever been in have had the modem/WiFi router combo from whatever their provider was.
My guess would be that it's better than a crappy or mid-range router (it's a simultaneous dual band 10-antenna router), but very likely not as good as a higher end third party router. I am using a Netgear R7000 (in my basement) and I can get 330 Mbps 2 floors up. I didn't test the XB6 capability.

Hopefully they can get it figured out.
Welp, no bridge mode in my firmware. Shaw tech support can manually bridge it, but the setting doesn't seem to be working either.
If you haven't tried already, get them to give it a hard factory reset while it's plugged directly into your PC. You also need to be using Port 1 on the back of the router (the left one). That's what did it for me after it came back to life. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I upgraded to 300/300 today. I guess I went down too. haha Check out that Ping! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Well they called back and fixed whatever the problem was.
Consistent now. Happy.

Tech and I think that maybe you have to have it plugged in for a while so it can update firmware to the verson that has bridge mode enabled. It's a new feature. Mine showed up after a few minutes and a reset. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Now to figure out why I'm only getting 150.
okay, tracert shows a 192.x hop, and a 184.x hop, then a 64.x hop.
Thats a double NAT right?
Glad it worked. I let mine sit for a bit too, so maybe you're onto something with the FW update. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Upload speeds seem to be quite good. I have tested mine a bunch more and I am getting more like 30-40Mbps (spikes to 50-60 while measuring) rather than the advertised 20.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Bonus, I got the same IP back. Saves me a ton of time updating firewall rules. Typically, everytime I've upgraded service/changed modem, they gave me a new IP which is a PITA after I switched off business static IP to residential dynamic IP.

can you guys do a Tracert on 8.8.8.8 to tell me if there is a 184.x.x.x address as the second hop?
What’s with the hate on the stock shaw modem/router? Is it really that bad?
...
The shaw tech I was just talking to said it was bad, haha
It doesn’t help that they tend to be crippled with custom firmware.
Stock models tend to crap out beyond 10 devices. With IOT I can easily have 10 connected devices in one room. They just get bogged down and stop accepting new clients.
Basically the only application that the stock gateways work for are 1-2 bedroom apartments. Even then I would run a third party modem.

Had to talk with the loyalty department... got it for $1.50 less per month than 150.
The other guy wasn't having it and wanted $10 more. Didn't sound too happy to pass me on to loyalty.
Picking up the modem tomorrow morning, hopefully they still have some stock!

Yeah they're terrible, always dropping connection and speeds are slow as shit. My R7000 was a beast before it died, stuck with the stock Shaw router for now until I get something else. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
