    Default Help my lawn

I moved into a new home recently, and my front lawn has brown patches. I am pretty sure the previous owner didn't care much about it.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve this?Name: Lawn.PNG

Rake all the dead grass out. You'll then want to rake in some new loam (fresh dirt) and over seed the whole area. Dont mow it for a few weeks and water it twice each day so that the seed germinates. Were moving into the high heat of the season so make sure you are around to be consistent. After the seeds have germinated, mow on a high setting so your dont cut it too short. In a month or so you do a light fertilizing. I grabbed liquid stuff you attach to your hose from Lowes as I have a small front yard like you and didnt want to invest in a spreader.

My front lawn almost died last year as the builder laid the sod while i was away on vacation and I came home to crispy dried out sod that has shrunk. Took all summer to recover it, but i followed the above steps and its now nice and green and even.

Looks like vole tracks from the winter. Soil and seed the brown tracks and it should fill in eventually.

Male dogs don't burn grass. It seems where my male dog pees the grass actually grows thicker

False. Male dogs urine also destroys grass. Just they typically piss on trees and bushes and it's less volume compared to a female squatting on your lawn.

Try: http://dogrocks.org/ I've had success in the past.

Also pour grass seed on the spots. But it'll be a never ending battle.

I've always been amazed that so few people train their dog to go relieve themselves in a designated gravelled/mulched area. Takes less than a week to train and your lawn never has issues ever again.

My dog doesn't like being around her own waste and will actually avoid to go anywhere near where she has already gone.

Most people have so little control of their dogs they can’t keep them off the couch, let alone defecating in a specific corner of their yard.

Our dog (female) tends to pee around a specific part of the yard, so the damage is limited, but still annoying. I will hose the area down if I'm also outside while she pees but definitly not all the time.

i guess constant seeding is the way to go.

+100. Although, my lawn still gets beat up from them rippin' around with their daily dose of zoomies. Just can't win sometimes
