Vandal or Neighbor Feud?

Moved into a new house a few weeks ago and promptly added a motion sensing flood light on my garage. (Previous owner didnt have any lights back there) Fast forward to this morning, I noticed both bulbs have been removed and the fixture itself is twisted.
Figure its either someone vandalizing the lights, or a neighbor that doesnt appreciate the light at night. Id really hope that someone would have the common decency to knock on my door before wrecking my light... but here we are. Lights are on motion sensor and on for 30 seconds.

Do I:

-Replace the bulbs, aim lights lower
-Replace with brighter bulbs
-Replace light all together with something that cant be messed with (sealed LED etc)
-Go knock on the neighbors door that back on to the alley to chat
-Replace bulbs and get a camera

Definitely stake it out and catch them in the act. You could just leave a copy of the video in their mailbox along with an invoice for damages.

Hard to confront a neighbor randomly without proof or even a reliable suspicion about their apparent wrongdoing.

As someone with a new neighbor I can say it can be frustrating when changes that impact my enjoyment of my property (in my case, an air conditioner) are installed without any kind of consultation, but I can't say that I feel it was owed to me in the first place. Life I guess.

I'd go for bulb replacement aimed lower, and a camera.

Am I misunderstanding, you think your neighbour should have checked with you before getting AC at his house?

Absolutely camera. If they were enough of a dickhead to go mess with it and not talk to you, do you really think they're going to fess up during a conversation?? 100% guarantee if you approach them, regardless of their alleged involvement, the answer is gonna be "man, I haven't seen anything!! Hope they didn't mess with my garage too!"

Not sure why it took beyond so long for this reply haha. Obvious answer is to escalate the situation and then start reporting them to bylaw for anything and everything

Went with a mid range fix..
-Smaller bulbs
-aimed slightly lower
-drilled a bolt in the housing so they cant get the bulb out (Suckers are $10 each) Name: 20180808_175440.jpg

My guess is if you are using LED lights that you can reach from the ground, they probably got stolen by a passer by

At any rate, when things start happening like this it is always best to get yourself a camera setup

Or bored teenagers.

Night 1, lights are still in tact and havent been messed with.

Worth noting, where the house is situated its not high traffic, near the back of the community and 2nd house from the end of the street.
