I had always been against the idea of separation but after seeing hoow out-of-touch the Eastern Provinces are with Canada's political and economic realities I can start to see the benefits. That said, there are too many far-right Albertans and a self-governing "country of Alberta" would be a little too Texan for me. I appreciate many of the great things Canadian society has implemented (universal healthcare, gun control, consumer protections, etc.) and would hate to live somewhere that regressed. [I don't live in Alberta anymore but always thought it would be nice to return one day].
I think we'd benefit also by getting out of a lot of the federal regulations that are almost carbon copies of US and international codes, but are given a Canadian twist to add that extra layer of red tape and nuisance. Like having Crn numbers on vessels that already have national board and asme certification, or the CEC that seems to just mimic NEC. Having to have those special Canadian attributes really limits the product we can use here, as the manufacturers have to pay to get Canadian certification for what is in the scheme of things a tiny market.

Completely asinine. Hey SugarPhreak, I'm pretty sure that the $10bil+ per year Alberta sends out and never sees back would go a long way to helping cover any issues with separation
Personally I think there is a miniscule east west gap. The gap I see is generational, explain $13 avocado toast to a 70 year old wheat farmer. It simply does not compute, worse yet - explain $10 per gram cannabis.
I'd like to see a millennial argue that I should pay him/her more than $14 per ton for iron ore - if that is their only means of making money.
In the year 2018, its perhaps the stupidest thing ever to create lines on a map and complain because of simple geography. We have planes people, and automobiles. If you don't like BC, hop on a car drive a few days and become a Newfie. It made sense to complian about such things back when people were serfs pulling wagons of turnips because they couldn't afford mobility.
Seriously... You peoples crazy.

I totally agree with the idea that we need to have a two-part referendum... equalization AND separation... let's gauge the appetite of the people on these issues and use the results to push forward on negotiations to right what's wrong or we look at our options. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Additional reasons to not allow BC to join us! At least lower mainland.
Bunch of clowns.

Naw, people aren't unhappy. All the rage is just #fakenews.
That's 1/6 the size of the overall lgbt community in Canada. Think they'll get the same attention?

Not really a good metric, a buddy of mine added me and I became a member without doing anything, I had to actually had to go in and click leave the group to get out. I didn’t realize you could do that. So I wouldn’t read anything into the numbers
Not saying I’m for or against what they are doing, just using that as a metric means absolutely nothing
And a weird comparison. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

As for it not being a metric, if you stay joined, your feed would be full of that stuff. I actually unfollowed except for announcements. So I doubt many people are just "there" unwillingly.
Yea that’s actually one of the main reasons I left. Just ended up being flooded by ignorant people with no concept of what the movement was about. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Just looked and my buddy added his entire list. If you do the math and assume each person has 100 friends on Facebook conservatively and each time there is a 5% reshare rate starting with 1 person you’re well over 58k in 6 iterations so not like that is something special....
Well I was one, it took me several days before getting pissed off enough to leave (I half wanted to stay just to see the absolute shit show)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Edit: and before you go jumping on me saying ‘flooded’, consider if only 0.3% care that’s 200 posts to deal with
