Obviously it is not. Try to be serious.
You're right, it isn't semantics. It's just completely irrelevant since Kenney said he would proclaim legislation, so there's the 'will.' Once the will is there the can is just an issue of logistics (and there are less of them involved with 'turning off the taps' than there are with separation).

You appear to confuse a bark with a bite.

I fully appreciate what you try to do around here. We do need punching bags upon which to lay our arguments. But being the contrarian is more art than science and you don't quite have it down yet.

Alberta shouldn't turn off the taps. They should just figure out a way to tax the shit outta the gas that is consumed in bc.
Big difference between should and could. Try being serious.

Think we could charge a downstream emitters tax on that pipeline in the name of the environment?

If you can do that they can probably turn around and charge an upstream one as well. Or a carbon transit surcharge or whatever else they’d want to call the retaliatory tax. Nothing bad happens to business when governments get into trade wars.

I'm saying they should find a could.

I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like them Sam I am.

You seem to be happy with BC's approach to the oil transportation trade - despite it clearly being the first salvo in a trade war.

Oh, so you are a liar? Along with all the other media that specifically said he'd turn off the taps a hour after being elected.

Not surprised. And there goes Kert, she's always swinging at that strawman. Takes a lot of hits from her but keeps on truckin

This isn't even ambiguous language. It is legitmately a flat out lie/misrepresentation of what he said.

They directly misquoted him, on purpose. You wonder why nobody trusts the news? Because of bullshit like that.

Edit- he didnt multi quote, if you notice, it says "updated", which Beyond automatically does to prevent double posts. I know you are riffing on him because he said that to you before, but as is usual, you are actually just an idiot.

    What was said (with video):

"within an hour of being sworn in, we will hold a cabinet meeting and the first item on the agenda will be to proclaim into law, bill 12, the turn off the taps legislation"
    What the media wrote:
At a campaign rally in Edmonton Friday night, Kenney renewed his pledge to “turn off the taps” of gasoline “within an hour” of being sworn in as premier — and singled out a promise made by Vancouver Mayor Kennedy Stewart.
    Some context

“Well, if the B.C. New Democrats continue to block our energy, we’ll happily give them a carbon-free Vancouver by 2020.”

So the issue is that they did what exactly? Where is the misquote? At most it's a weak quote mine because there isn't anything different from his intent to the message they portrayed even though they snipped it out.

Are you all upset because they painted 'legislation that will turn off the taps within the first hour' as Kenney himself taking a valve key to the border to close of the pipeline within the first hour?

The problem with wrestling with a pig is that at some point you begin to realize that the pig likes it.

Is this better or worse than putting Mike Hudemas best friend in charge of it?

I'd suggest that the role of 'environment' minister should at least have SOME credibility on the environment, no? He's has shown in the past his complete lack of respect for those people who now fall under his purview. There is a pretty specific reason he went out of his way to get the audio from him ripping on a F&W officer (who fall under AEP) blocked from the media...

Just a bad choice by Kenney on this file, there had to be a better spot for Nixon then one that he has previously alienated his public staff below him..
