Sounds like a good thing I skipped the 3rd period to practice my Honda Fit article writing skills.

Brayden Point and Dube on the same line would be awesome.

Well, on the bright side, I think we can worry a lot less about protecting players from the expansion draft . . . ***laughs***cries***cries***

Yeah what a shit game. Flames performance would be like buying KODK for a long term investment
Should've just kept Talbot in net since it was a tie game at that point.
What's up with Flames and their goalies playing the worst game of their life in elimination games?
Call a time out after the 3rd goal, don't pull Talbot yet. It's 3-3 in an elimination game. Settle the boys down, don't put in a cold goalie who hasn't played a meaningful game in months.
Also it sounded like Ward wanted to put Talbot back in, but he had gone down the tunnel at trashed half of his gear after being pulled, trainer says 'umm, equipment issue" haha

Well if nothing else last night provided some closure on this version of the Flames. There has to be some sweeping changes made because this product on the ice is never going to get over the hump. Need a mini rebuild to take place that cuts all excess and focuses on young talent with heart, hustle and desire to be here. I have never been a fan of changing coaches so often, but considering the way that Peters was cancelled and Ward was ushered in so quickly, maybe it is smart to target a Gallant (or Babcock haha). Chucky is the heart and soul and i knew if he missed extensive time this series was over, it is just sad that the top line seems indifferent when it comes to showing up for the big games.
Other changes? Taylor Hall? I do not think that is the missing piece, he is more of the same. Holtby? Maybe? Overpaying goalies is the worst mistake you can make, ask Florida how that Bob contract is looking 1 year in. Any other ideas?
Agreed. I don't think the intention was to switch goalies, but to give Talbot a break and a chance to regroup and give the rest of the team a wake up call. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Mini rebuild is needed, this core won't carry us anywhere, build around Chucky now. There's more good players than great players on this team and most don't have or have displayed the competitive drive to win or elevate their game play in the playoffs.
Ward has to go for many reasons, the revolving coaching door needs to stop but Ward wasn't meant to be the head coach anyway thanks to ol' racist Bill.
I don't hate what Treliving has done to the fullest extent but he needs to shake things up at this point.
I think the Defence core is still strong. Really like what andersson did this year. Valimaki coming back will help.
But who's the captain of this team going forward?
Dallas is a good team no doubt, that series could have gone our way if we got lucky, but looking at the next round there wasn't much hope. We have been stuck as a mid pack team for as long, but do we really want to blow it up to tank and then rebuild? Personally, I don't. I don't see a lack of skill. Work ethic and drive doesn't seem high, how do you fix that? More coke? or less?
Treliving got the stars to agree to manageable deals. Brought in Gustaffson and Forbot ahead of losing Hamonic. Neal trade was good. Talbot and Reider do their jobs. I think Lindholm would be better if he didn't have to kill penalties. Ryan was a great addition. Can't fault him on the Bennett pick as he was ranked #1 by some scouts. Rittich was a good signing. Dube, Mangiapane, Valimaki, Andersson. I don't know guys.
I hope they can swing a deal for Brady and Kapanen.

It's starting to seem an awful lot like Toronto or Vancouver in here. It's great to be a passionate fan but this really isn't an elite team and they've placed and done about as well as a they should have been expected to. Calgary is a decent team and they did decent. This isn't Washington or Pittsburgh stacked with trophy winners that are now playing golf wondering WtF just ran over them.
"Fire the coaches, waive the goalies and turf the top line!" should be left for Toronto fans who think every year the season will just be a formality and the league should start inscribing their names on the cup in October.
In terms of blame, last night is the Talbot I remember very well from Edmonton. At one point in Edmonton he had the 27th worst GPA of any goalie who had played more than 25 games, and, he had multiple shutouts. He's either a 4'x6' sheet of plywood, or, a 2x4. Plenty of games he will let in 0-1 goals and that's unfortunately balanced by the other games where he lets in 5+. But again, it was just one game where the team really shit the bed and unfortunately it was bad timing for that game.
But whatever. Be whatever kind of fan you want, I suppose. The more I think about it, the more I guess we all enjoy getting super wrapped up in a team's journey and emotional rollercoaster. At least you lost to a team that legit earned their playoff spot!
Doesn't feel much better this morning.....
