I simply said that Trump's entire brand is built on him being an amazeballs businessman, only that doesn't appear to be the case per what is revealed in his tax filings
Is what I wrote above not visible to you?

Trumpet man has this whole image sold and then the taxes comes out and it makes him look like a loser (even though the bigger picture/actual fiscal reality is not that).

Note that I did not comment on anything your reply references. I simply said that Trump's entire brand is built on him being an amazeballs businessman, only that doesn't appear to be the case per what is revealed in his tax filings. The amount of position-twisting happening everywhere for people to defend this view of Trump is funny.

Trumpet-man is also president, hence why he gets so much coverage. What did you expect?
I don't think any of Trump's brand comes from people thinking he's an amazing business-man. I doubt anyone actually thought that then, or thinks that now - including his supporters.

The entire Apprentice reality show is based on the assumption that he is such amazing business man. It's always been his brand and his gateway to being a 'celebrity'. He even sells the naming rights of "Trump" to other businesses and hotels to bolster their image.

Many of his supporters literally believe anything he tells them, like some of the dangerously misleading claims he makes about COVID. It's actually stunning what they will take as fact so long as it comes from Trump. I think he has a lot more influence on his base than you realize, and his base is extremely loyal - polling shows that his support base doesn't really change significantly one way or the other regardless of what he does, but he also doesn't seem to get any new supporters.

I find the threads entertaining watching the trump supports bend over backwards having to spin everything so that dear lord is never wrong. And if not they just scream TDS. It's just petty entertainment at this point.
You could put this statement in the exact opposite light and also be correct. You can't throw out some speculation or conjecture and then talk down anyone who disagrees. I haven't seen anyone dispute actual fact in this thread, at least that I've noticed, I've only seen people dispute baseless opinions from one side or the other. Telling someone to provide proof, against something with no proof, isn't terribly productive.

I think he originally ran because it was a win/win situation for him.

    a) if I lose in 2016, I can make a book or a reality TV show about it and claim whatever I want (profits)
    b) if I win, I am a winner. (I can also claim whatever I want. )

One thing I am learning from this thread is I am clearly not caught up on mainstream shit.

Also, I believe the winner "won" the right to promote/manage one of his businesses haha. Win/win/win.

Looks like it means at least a couple different things. The context I have seen it used in is "The Donald Supporter" referring to the subreddit group r/the_donald. It also appears to be a catch-all term Trump supporters use to label anyone who disagrees with them/him ("Trump Derangement Syndrome").

It's a term used to describe people who hate Trump so much they become irrational.

It’s not zero hedge, but this story actually explains the whole thing really well:
    https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...pprentice.html

In summary, yes, his whole brand and image including the success of The Apprentice was based on people thinking he is an amazing business man. Smart people know he isn’t, but you have to remember this about convincing the average American, not people like yourselves who can see past the bullshit.

I think it can also apply to people who love Trump so much, they become irrational.

Exactly. It's literally just a term to make whoever is on the opposite side of the discussion as you seem unreasonable, while at the same time implying that you are somehow being completely objective or somehow immune to the same effect. It says more about the people choosing to use those made up labels than anything else IMO, they have no actual argument or facts to fall back on so it's easier to toss around insults.

In a Canadian forum, you'd think so...but it seems we're all more interested in the corruption of other countries than our own.

I'll start a thread when our taxes hit Norway levels.

I thought it was total debt servicing (ratio) ...which in the context of $400m in personal liabilities also made sense

Did this thread turn into arguing about what the opponents think but aren't admitting?
Fuck me I'm confused. Lucky that I hate every politician.

I've been watching some of this guy's clips. Not a fan of the phrase "nothing burger" though, even Michelle Rempel used it the other day...
