You have to do what @3drian is doing. Dump some sort of soil on it, level and re-seed.

What's everyone's thoughts on rubber mulch? All pros as the suppliers say? Any other cons other than price? Also, any places locally to pick up in bulk? Most I've seen are available in bags only.

The price is a major con - $1200 (One thousand two hundred dollars) / cubic yard at Blue Grass.
I like it, but several of the pieces are still very clearly chunks of old tires, so that can look a bit shabby. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Maybe I bought a cheapo brand without Hoosier or PS-Ss4-Cup-Sport-LgBtQ pieces.
Bought a pile of rubber mulch for our kids play area in the backyard.
Much better and much cleaner than gravel.
Downside is that you can torch the weeds out of your gravel but can't do the same in rubber mulch. Otherwise seems good.

Considering breaking down and subscribing to greendrop/truegreen/weedpatrol/weedman/greennwhite type deal. I have only 450 ft2 and 100 ft2 and the cost is roughly $250/season. Really I just need Par3 so I can fuck up these dandelions.... decisions...
Tap, Rack, BANG!
Do children bounce better falling on rubber mulch than gravel?

OK so since everyone is using Par3 / trillion for their weed control, I am curious what everyone's thoughts are on the safety profile. The ingredients are dicamba, 24D, and mecoprop P. Using my handy dandy internetting skills I see that the half-lifes of these components vary from 19 hours up to 3-30 days.....
So, when the lawn care companies claim this is "safe for pets and children" and provide instructions to stay off lawn until dry, is that actually the case? Once dry my exposure from cutting grass, rolling around, playing soccer etc is minimal? What if the grass becomes wet again from dew or rain etc?
Looking for insight as I'm not farm certified despite my UFA gas card.

Those are the same ingredients as Killex. My experience is that Mecoprop is bad and you should stay the fuck away from getting it on your skin or breathing it. I walked* through a few fields that were just sprayed when I was a kid and it gave me a wicked headache and a fever. I still use it, but I attempt to use it sparingly and my personal guideline is, "if you still smell it, stay away from it". The odour is very distinctive and strong, but it does go away quickly. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I can't say for sure, but I don't think I'd use it if I had a pet... Although spot applications are so much better than the old "Weed&Feed" days.
*Field was closed at the far end but open at the other end so I didn't see the sign until I had already walked through 2 soccer fields and a baseball diamond. Someone in the municipal team got their dad fucked when my parents saw.
Are we supposed to cut our lawn short or leave it longer this time of year

Every ecological and lawn health reason, leave it long all year. Flexing on neighbors, cut it short all year.

Long, frequently cut lawns look great. Long infrequently cut lawns look unkempt.
I am a guy on the long infrequently cut side of life
