In 2012, when Barack Obama was president, Trump warned that a 1.9% growth rate spelled "deep deep very deep trouble".

Today, gdp growth again 1.9%, Trump says greatest economy in history, very very beautiful economy.
Americans still can't afford rent or pay healthcare.

Alberta waaaaah separatists "I'm embarassed to be Canadian, wish we had Trump"

    Insane asylum.

I think you assume too much, personally I just want responsible thinking instead of emotional.
Sharing wexit links, and lies about environmental policy, slander Trudeau who approved the pipeline twice and spent 6 billion to bail out the industry, and I'm assuming something?

It's a duck. A lame one. But still a duck.

All the wealth management guys I talk to have zero investments in Canadian companies, our Country is run by a bunch of idiots.
EnCana has ~10% of passive investment holding thier stock, vs ~40% for thier peers in USA. That is completely because thier "legal domicile" is Canada vs Delaware where they will be. Physical head office location doens't matter, but the paperwork needs to be USA.

Accessing that passive investment capital is really important for valuation and volatility. The tax benefits are real, but less important.

Time to buy Encana? When I left, the share price was $18. I looked this morning for the first time in a long time. $5.

Fixed that for you. Easy to say this now but I guarantee you they do.

It's lost what, 83% of its value since 2008? Doesn't look overly optimistic tbh. Also what a shitty new name.

My opinion is if Encana was a compelling investment prospect they would have better things to be doing than playing games with HQ’s and ticker Names to try and juice their valuations.

They will be doing a reverse split of 5:1 at some point next year which in most cases isn't a good thing however I bought shares today anyways to see how it plays out. They pay a small dividend as well and I'm willing to wait this out a year or two.

Knowing there is a reverse split coming, I would not touch that thing until it does and drops a bit more post-split.

Or last year when Suttles moved out of the Calgary office for Denver. The writing has been on the wall for a while. If only they did this the day after the election for effect!

I laughed at the headline. Never trust shit.

Encana says CEO Doug Suttles' move from Calgary to Denver not a precursor to an office-wide relocation
'We’re not moving other staff and, no, we’re not relocating our head office'

Just checked the stock, was actually lower in Jan/Feb 2016. it's just done -70% since Oct 2018 to Oct 2019..

Maybe at its low of $4.18 (TSX) or $3.30-$3.50 if it doesn't bankrupt honestly...Sitting at $5.16cad - $3.93usd, but I'm also bearish on USD and it's now a US company so I have no idea

*Not financial advice just an opinion please don't sue me.

Sad story: an American becomes the CEO of a once celebrated Canadian company in 2013. Makes a series of ill-timed and debt-financed acquisitions. Stock falls ~70%. He makes ~$70MM yet only owns ~$1MM of stock personally. Decides to move the company to the US. The end.

Sounds like a prescription medication with an alarmingly long list of potential side effects.

Y'know this has me worried enough to borrow a little bit of money - just to strengthen the evil big 5 banks bonds to the point where they need me as a interest slave.

I haven't excersized credit in a decade, but I get the feeling this along with a Trump peach will cause all sorts of economic turmoil. One of those rare few times where it might be better to slightly owe, than own too many US/Cdn dollars.
