If one person in a household has symptoms nobody else has to stay home. They probably should, but don't have to, afaik.

It's been like that all summer in the okanagan, even when I visited. Hospitals aren't being overrun and people aren't dying in the streets...sooo..... Opiod and drug related deaths are still way higher this year in BC, that's something you can control and see. We can't nit pick on which lives to save, don't all lives matter or just when someone dies from covid? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
From what @max_boost tells me. We have a pandemic as payback for white people continuing to trash MSG without scientific basis.

Well also we would like to see our doctor about the hives, Im more concerned about the hives than the fever, to be honest the fever is probably caused by the body fighting the hives, but we cant go anywhere because she has as fever because its a symptom of covid. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. However we are keeping everyone home until that negative test atleast which if its the same as the last test we had means noone will be going to school until next monday.
We however tell our friends when we have been around them and someone has a symptom. We saw a family friend and their kids last weekend and I went over to their house to drop something off mid week and their son had a runny nose, fever, and a bad cough, they didnt think to tell anyone about this.

Face masks could be giving people Covid-19 immunity, researchers suggest
Face masks may be inadvertently giving people Covid-19 immunity and making them get less sick from the virus, academics have suggested in one of the most respected medical journals in the world.Still early stages of the research and not peer-reviewed yet but still more reason to wear masks. It comes as increasing evidence suggests that the amount of virus someone is exposed to at the start of infection - the “infectious dose” - may determine the severity of their illness. Indeed, a large study published in the Lancet last month found that “viral load at diagnosis” was an “independent predictor of mortality” in hospital patients.
Wearing masks could therefore reduce the infectious dose that the wearer is exposed to and, subsequently, the impact of the disease, as masks filter out some virus-containing droplets.
So getting just a bit of the vid makes you immune?
Time to break out the covid parties kids

There's gotta be a balance though. The list of symptoms is so broad that just relying on symptoms alone to have everyone stay home is a huge reach. Might as well just shut everything down until a vaccine comes out if that's the case. At the end of the day, symptoms doesn't mean COVID, but if you do test positive, the whole household has to quarantine. That's a good balance to keep things open and prevent outbreaks. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If the goal is to have zero new cases, then yea, shut everything down. But that's not the goal, as much as you disagree with it based on potential long term effects.

Shut everything down? What makes you think the prevalence of covid-like symptoms is that high? With the care people are taking to limit overall exposures, we're likely going to see far fewer coughs and colds and flus this season. Besides, people should be staying home if they are sick, covid or otherwise - which I think will be one of the benefits to come out of this thing. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Based on the # of kids getting sent home from school, co-workers and I during allergy season this year, it's been rough for symptoms. I mean it's all anecdotal I suppose, so no, I don't have any data to support that it's a widespread problem. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I think people isolating themselves when they have symptoms is likely to be a very high ROI activity. It would probably end up maximizing economic activity, as it is one of the easiest ways to keep cases low. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

The list of alleged symptoms is ludicrous. I've also mentioned before the irritation with the over reliance on temperature (fever) as a symptom. Airlines, daycares and schools are banking on this, for a few examples. The medical professionals who I know have seen zero CoVid patients who displayed a fever as a primary symptom.
