Holy christ - the graph in front of your face directly contradicts you. Is this some kind of black magic? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Since end of May, The infection rate has been around ~1% of tested cases in AB. There has been NO mass increase in the percentage positives since early April.
If we test 100,000 people, 1000 will be sick with C19, if we test 1,000,000 people, 10000 will be sick with C19.

Despite my wording, I was certainly not trying to say that they should be equivalent. In fact, everything I have read points to false negatives being higher. My only point was to imply that one cannot argue for false positives while ignoring false negatives; we should just take the number of positives at face value. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I see what you mean. But what is meant by a false positive or false negative? Do you mean presence of viral RNA? Or do you mean active infection? Or do you mean someone who is infectious? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Sigh. I can see the chart and I can see the rate increasing... Let's use Edmonton since they are starting to have a rough outbreak so its easier to see. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You can see May was ~0.5% positivity rate, June/July was close to 1%, end of August through September was 1.5% and october so far has been above 2%.
But yes, please tell me how the rate hasn't changed and its black magic.
Wait! Is Phexos trying to say that 2 > 0.5???
I'm looking for the Black Magic button on my calculator or abacus.
Yep - good job of moving the goal posts. I was not talking about edmonton or calgary - the reference to AB - as you obviously saw it, didnt work for you. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I can also find a smaller sample size that shows the C19 % rate decreasing in a different of the province, but thats not the point and Im not going to move the posts.
I really gave that an honest go. Tripped over my shoelaces and landed ass first on a syringe full of black tar heroin. Got me right through the walls of my colon. Now im hooked for life. You never know where life is gonna take ya.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Here we go again!
Today’s coronavirus news: Close to 10 per cent of Toronto’s cases occurred in last eight days; Ontario bans indoor restaurant dining, closes gyms, theatres for 28 days, after record high of 939 cases

AB did 25k tests in the last day, not too shabby
Pffttt! Sounds like a recipe for 270 false positivesThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I don't think the false positives is a big deal. I think more relevant is the number of people what are true positives who have mild symptoms. Some people will use that as proof of how overblown the situation is. Others will use it as proof of the danger. I can't decide which I am.

I agree that its not a binary situation either - on the positive reults side there are a) asymptomatic cases, b) ones who are sick but functional (eg. flu like), c) and then ones who are hospitalized. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I tested positive and my symptoms weren't even flu like. No fever, no cough, no sore throat, no sneezing, no runny nose, no breathing problems. Just a stuffy head and lost my sense of smell. Can breathe clearly through my nose but can't smell a thing, not even gasoline from a jerry can. It's bizarre.
Well crap. Glad you came out of it seemingly unscathed.

How long has it been? I’m interested in real life recoveries and continuing symptoms.
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."
