Indeed. Isn't the author calling for exactly what Prime Premier Kenney is doing now?

    No.
The author is calling for the vulnerable to be protected, everyone else open.

If this were the case my business wouldn’t be currently mandated closed by the government.

    To counter that

If people would fucking grow up and follow the rules a lock down wouldn’t need to be considered - that is if it even is

I can understand why people aren’t obeying. People are pissed off.
There is overwhelming evidence this virus affects vulnerable populations 70+ years of age.
    Lock em down.
The vast majority of deaths are occurring in care facilities. Not the general public.

But I do agree some common sense is needed, if you’re sick, stay home, wash your hands, socially distance.

Gyms should be allowed to open with enhanced ventilation and strict no orgy rules.

You should pivot and offer a naked gym.

So the plan is do nothing sit on our hands and watch the ICU fill up? Then when people are dying in mass because there's no beds what's the plan exactly? How do people feel about the Children's hospital also currently having ~37 kids hospitalized due to covid?

By Thursday, that number had grown to 37 Albertans ages 19 and under that had been hospitalized including six in ICU:

24 in the 10-19 age range (5 in ICU).
1 in the 5-9 age range.
5 in the 1-4 age range (1 in ICU).
    7 under 1 year.
Oh right this is only an old people disease and we should just let it spread like wildfire because no one is going to die right?

Sure that may be the case but when people are actively flaunting receiving a positive confirmation then going to Costco and spreading it around because they don’t want to wear masks - is the exact damn reason we are where we are

How many of these individuals suffer from multiple other health afflictions.

These people likely fall into the VULNERABLE category.

Between the ages of 0 and 19 there have been ~9200 cases of Covid and 0 deaths in Alberta.

For the age of 80 and up there have been ~1600 cases of Covid and 308 deaths in Alberta.

I have kids and I have zero concerns if they get Covid. They will get sick and that sucks, but they will recover.
    I like neat cars.

If COVID doesn't kill kids, does it lower their max HP? 1D20? That would suck.

    Maybe?
    That is called an assumption.

Do I disagree? Not necessarily, but until we see evidence of this happening then we have to conclude this is an isolated incident.

Edmonton is getting rekt at the moment. Two days ago Calgary and Edmonton had the same 7 day cases, now Edmonton is up 3519 to 2682 just two days later. Unfortunate since Edmonton has a lot more hospitalized and ICU too. It's gonna be really ugly there really soon.

I managed to get through a workout with a Non medical mask on, with some light biking after, and didn't die from lack of oxygen. USask even did a study on it: https://www.sciencedaily.com/release...1105112934.htm Wearing it sucks don't get me wrong, but all the Karens saying it hinders breathing? Fuuuuk. This is why #alllivesmatter is a joke, we could go without a small portion of the population.
Not sure if this was ever posted in this thread:

'Dave Proctor ran seven 15 kilometre long loops around the Glenmore Resevoir wearing his mask and taking his blood 02 levels after every lap.

“The first couple of laps it was a bit annoying," Proctor said. "I think it does limit the amount of air that comes in, you have to suck a bit more. But after a while, you get into a rhythm and it’s fine.”

Starting the run Thursday morning Proctor’s blood oxygen level was 98 per cent. After seven laps totalling 102 kilometres his blood oxygen reading was 98 per cent for every lap.

“You need oxygen, I’ve been running and I am not in any need of any more oxygen than what’s around me, I’m fine,” said Proctor.'

I fully expect lockdown coming up, any bets on whether things like dentists, optometrists, physio, etc. Will be classified as essential services?
I think it’s pretty clear there is no rhyme or reason to what they close or restrict. The latest round a week and a half ago are a prime example of that; limits on things they acknowledge aren’t actually risky, but need to be restricted “because”.

I saw it on Facebook, I can't remember how though, try typing in "freedom Calgary" into the search bar....there was quite a lot of people, I'd say maybe 200+, there was also a picture of 4 "Proud Boys" there. So just imagine AT LEAST that amount of people going about Calgary like nothing is happening.

Every health officer in the country knew that we were headed for bad numbers and a response. The announcement last week was just the first phase of a pre-determined plan. I wouldn't put too much stock in it.

    Sweden is also wrecked.

There goes herd immunity and possible T-Cell theory. This thing will be seasonal, permanent going forward.

Agreed. I wonder if we’ll see the sacred cow that is school touched this time. They can’t really close restaurants and gyms using the justification that while they aren’t risky, we don’t know where the majority of cases are coming from while keeping schools open using the justification that they haven’t linked a lot of cases to them.
