Stay in your Aspen house. That is the only safe place.
Acreage. Interest rates are low and banks are going to be desperate for business so they will never check my income. I'm buying next to whatever 89coupe is buying. We are going to form a compound.

I have a kid that gets coughs, like she's normally coughing at least 10 weeks every winter. She's going to be popular.

Your compound is weak. It needs a moat filled with carnivorous hippopotamuses.

Aren't hippopotamuses carnivorous already? I have yet to meet a vegan one.

It is ok. The "moat" will soon be the zombies of non-Aspen folk tied to the fence.

No, one of Vancouvers we knew not to be travel related weeks ago.

Just because AHS hasn't kicked up monitoring doesn't mean it's not community transmission.

Are we saying that BC retirement home was travel related too?

The longest streak of safety was presided by President Trump. I guess you could argue the Dems did a terrific job in convincing us Trump was going to kill us all.
Trump was a big enough scare fest to justify a few years of focus all to himself.

Kids will become huge vectors, but they're almost guaranteed to survive. Mortality rates for kids are fuck all... this is the "ok boomer" of pandemics, only materially effects the old.
For people in the 20-50 demo, sure it's 20x dealider (from 0.01% to 0.2%), but both those numbers are essentially 0.

    For people in their 60s it's 2-3%
    80+ is >10%

I think at some points the young people say... why the fuck are we shutting down society when it's the boomers who are the only real ones at risk, the ones who piled on debt (personal and national), who ransacked pensions, took interest rates down to 0 to keep their stocks up and out of reach for gen y/z, etc.

At some point the narrative from the youth will emerge as: it's time for society to move on, we'll lose some of the elderly, and we're ok with that.

Wait till they figure out that the people who are likely to die are holding massive amounts of wealth and that wealth will be redistributed to the younger people when they die.

Frankly its a real win win for certain disenfranchised segments of society.
