I don't really have a budget or keep track.

I'm pretty responsible with my money during my day to day life, but when I travel I try not to think about it too much cause I'm out there seeing, enjoying, and eating things I normally wouldn't at home but it's gotta be within reason. That is I wouldn't go on a shopping spree and buy a bunch of shit I don't need just cause I can't get it at home, but I'm more open to paying more for a good meal or seeing/doing something I may never get a chance to again.

My lunches for two alone are >$150/ sitting, and easily spend ~$10-$20k/year in travel.
    Flawed poll.

What are you guys all students or something?

This year, $1-$3k because I'm just going to bust my ass. But for the last 9 years, I've easily spent more than $10k/year on travel.

I mean, I can and have taken my family of four to Mexico for under $7k all-in for a week. But that's probably not the only trip that year. Even a camping trip has expenses. Between, food, fuel and campgrounds, I think I spend $500/week just camping, more if I am driving far. Last summer for our big camping trip I probably spent about $600 on fuel alone.

As mentioned by someone else, a budget for a short weekend trip vs. a trip overseas is totally different. I typically do a few weekend trips a year to various places in North America (either with friends/gf or for bachelor parties). As well, would typically will try to at least go on one or two larger vacations (1-2 week trips) per year.

My budget/actual spend is for sure a bit above the top end of the poll.

Opportunity cost of being away far exceeds the credit card bill.
The value of a memorable trip far exceeds the opportunity cost and/or the credit card bill. Are you paid hourly or is it just a hassle getting time off?

We’re a family of 4 and I’m in the $6-10k range total for all of us on average. Most of the budget go towards our winter vacation, the rest goes towards camping and trips to BC during the summer. We are usually pretty good and stay on budget. Now that my kids are older they are pretty good with slumming it too so as long as there is a pool a lake or a beach nearby we’re pretty happy.

I definitely don't budget or keep track, who cares? If something cool is happening and I can go, great.

So far this year it's been five days in Denver, four days in Banff. Still to come there will be four or five days in Vegas, ten in Vancouver, five days in St. Kitts with a nice night in New York and a nice night in Miami on either end. Then there will be some kind of summer vacation with my son, a fishing trip or two, 6 days in Halifax and then winter will start again to rinse/repeat.

Money always comes from somewhere, I'm one for doing shit when there's shit to do

If there's one thing the world isn't going to run out of, it's money. It's always going to be there to get. If it isn't, then it certainly isn't going to matter whether you saved all yours or not.

Around 5k these days. 3 young kids makes travel not desirable. In my 20-32 range we were probably 10k. Tougher to spend the money when it’s not quite as fun more of a struggle, plus the wife isn’t working so the money isn’t sitting around. 5 more years and it will be business as usual.

We're considering booking this place for a week or two this summer.

I don't really keep track, depending on the year, usually probably under 10k, but some years as high as 30k for two people. It's just me and the wife. My single most expensive trip has been 3 weeks in Russia during the world cup (started in Siberia, trans-siberian railway, the whole nine yards + 2 games in Moscow and St. Petersburg), that came out to $24k all in. The year prior 3 weeks in Brazil was $17k for two. On top of that we usually do a yearly all inclusive somewhere and maybe some other trip. I don't really keep track overall, I stay reasonable, AirBNB where I can, and always in cattle class on the plane. At the end of the day, it's only money.

I put $6-$10k but it's probably often over $10k (especially if that's including my girl).

We travel on a budget but usually for 3+ months/year. The biggest variable year to year is probably how many flights and how far-flung they are.
