Make sure the mom eats jalapenos, kimchi and garlic, gotta get the kid used to those flavours.

Dad too. With moms vajajay on the injured list, may as well give her some flavour in the ol' gentleman juice. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
We're good people.
Kid 1 - not napping well lately but overall still sleeping overnight well. Also still mostly chills/plays in crib while not sleeping. Just over 2 years old, sleep trainning started at 4 months old.
Kid 2 - almost 6 weeks old, wife takes the nights and luckly to get 2-3hr max stretches. I take evenings, so wife usually gets a good 3-4 hour stretch of sleep. Kid is fussy/cluster feeding like a MFer after supper before going down for the evening big stretch.
Life is busy doing nothing but kid stuff with the arrival of kid 2. Hoping kid 2 sleeps like kid 1 in a couple months.
Hang in there everyone, definitely can be tough. Hardest and most rewarding thing I've done so far in life haha.

5hrs sleep in the am? You're living the dream! I am up most of the night these days managing our 5 week old. Lots of walking and rocking. My wife is still recovering so I'm trying to do as much as possible on the night shift (except the breastfeeding). Today I'm dead as newborn did not want to be put down to sleep last night, and 3 year old refused to take his nap today. RIP.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Wife has been talking about the Snoo and I lold at the cost. Ridiculous. Apparently resale market is hot hot so I'm open to giving it a shot. If it can help rock the baby to stay asleep its well worth it. Indigo near our house just got a few in stock so I was there today at opening to pick it up. Another person came bright and early as well to get one. Let's see if it works or not...I am skeptical.
We managed to start the process early last night. Got her down at 9pm, followed her right to sleep, but she was up between 3am and 5am.
I'm lucky to still be on leave, so shitty sleep isn't the worst, but I go back at the beginning of Nov.

Wife keeps telling me not to bother with it cause it won't work and will be a waste of money but after another eventful night of constant crying and struggle, this morning I said fuck it and I ordered one. Kijiji has a couple for sale around the the grand mark but I dunno something about a used baby thing where other babies have sat before, doesn't sit right with me. lolThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Almost all my shit is hand me downs, or used. The only new things we have are the car seat, and the crib, because my parents insisted on buying it (and any small stuff off the baby registry that people bought us). This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

This is a blip in the life of humans. We’re meant to do this, we just think we have a choice now for some reason. Hahah.
Can’t go against millennia of natural order.
Let’s revisit this in 6 months, then 30 months, then 48-60 months and you’ll be like wow - That was fast.
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."
-H.P. Lovecraft
This is 100% true. The new born period = short term sleep deprivation. Not a big deal. I have not really slept since 2003 anyways. This snoo etc is cashing in on worries of parents. First world problems. So what you don't sleep. Drink some more coffee and keep on chugging. Enjoy this period of time. You only get it once. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. That said, after a few nights of very little sleep our newborn slept 90 mins at a time in bassinet. I'm super refreshed today. Will try the snoo today. Again, no high hopes for some magical results.
Like what part is enjoyable though?

Same with when her cute little eyes are wide open, just staring out and taking in the world.

100% this. There is nothing better than a baby sleeping on your chest. Fussy babies suck, and I spent many many many nights pacing and rocking especially with the first. But those 30 min - 2 hr naps are the absolute best. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I would rather deal with a newborn - 1 year old than deal with my sassy 3 year old any day of the week.
Not to down downplay the struggle anyone is going through right now with their infants, because in the moment infants can definitely be really shitty to deal with. But looking back the chest naps and other funny shit far outweighs the sleep depravation and screaming, especially when you're looking at it in hindsight.
