I always though brownie points was related to brown nosing, not girl guides?
It originated from the points system within the Girl Guides younger troop, brownies, for doing good things and became a popular term in like the 50's or 60's. Brown nosing has a negative conotation to it but when you use "Brownie points" int means you are doing something good or desireable.

Cancel it. The births of my two children are seared into my brain. Two of the most joyous days of my life.

I golfed mens night the night before my daughter was born and I was 15 minutes from home. Honestly all I remember is annoying my friends talking about it and checking my phone every 10 minutes. Wasn't really worth it.

No. It's racist. The colour brown need to be deleted from all English dictionaries and all existing copies need to be burned.

Good thread. I enjoy reading the stories.

    Babies come early - yes.

It’s also very common for the first baby to be late.

Shrug, this PDF says 81% are passed their due date.

I went to a flames game 3 days before the our scheduledc-section, I said I would remain in a condition to drive and come home prompt after the game, I did one of those things... I would have been crucified if we unexpectedly had to head to the hospital that night lol

I will prefer a station wagon instead of a minivan and I don't like station wagons either. But who knows the future I guess time will tell. I don't think minivan is a must with 1 kid but if the fleet gets bigger down the line then it may be something worth while to look into.

IMO, minivan isn't required until you have 3 or more kids.

Wagon is the ideal solution for a 2 kid family, preferably E class with jump seats for occasional carpooling scenarios.

Just get a mid size SUV. There's a reason they are so popular.

Wife was against a minivan before we had one on rental back in April. They make too much sense, she's on board with driving one as the main family hauler now.

    Same position here.

Pre-kids - No way in hell we will ever get a mini-van. Period.

1 kid - No way we need a mini van. A big SUV does the same job.

Now 2 kids and having experienced the minivan life on a recent family vacation - about to put down a deposit on the Sienna.

Lexus released the new GX yesterday and it looks awesome. I’d like to say I’m going to replace my current GX with the new one when mine dies, but they don’t die so I’ll have to find another catalyst.

^ I actually just put a deposit down on it. Saw it yesterday and loved it and I think it's a perfect vehicle to replace my Grand Cherokee or wife's Q5 with when they arrive a year to 1.5 year later.

It's a body on frame SUV, not a crossover. Good for offroading and towing. Not good as an urban family hauler.

Yea I saw that, so most likely will be for me where it gets occasionally used with the child, and something else more comfortable for the wife who's vehicle is going to be the main baby hauler.

Got around to installing the child seat in it last night and assembled the stroller. More or less ready to go and wife also has her dream nursery almost all set-up too. Man this kid hasn't even arrived and is already running me big time $$. Haha.

This is true, but somehow it’s really likeable.

ya, that looks great. Very exciting.

It's personal preference, but glider rockers are often easier/more effective when it comes to a kid sleeping.

Yeah, I really like it too. But having had both types for long periods, a body on frame SUV as a family hauler makes no sense 100% of the time unless you are towing. In which case...get a truck.

We do have a proper, wooden framed crib incoming, just hasn't arrived yet. That little one is just a portable one we got for initial use when we want the baby sleeping in our room and all that. And that rocker (in the right corner) I think just moves side-to-side slightly. Think it was a gift at one of the 4 baby showers that my wife got, so if it doesn't work well we will probably grab something else.

Start the countdown til shak is swapping out baby gear more frequently than cars. Which will probably cost as much as swapping out cars.
