Recommendation for a basic setup?

Depends on what games/systems you will play and how much you think you will use it.

I used to just use the older Logitech xbox/pc G920 wheel and the playseat challenge and that was pretty basic and easy to hide away and worked for a decent amount of use and more reasonable cost. This was easy to just unfold the seat and go though.

Next step up would be like the Fanatec DD bundle depending on PC/Xbox/PS but then a real base or playseat trophy as the base is quite heavy.

Any thoughts on this setup? Currently running the Next Level triple monitor stand.

IMHO that's not good value at all. I'd be going with an ASR4 (can probably get by with a 3 to be honest) from Advanced Sim Racing. Plenty strong & rigid for any DD wheel you can throw at it. ASR sells seats as well.

I'd go with ASR1 over this any day, it's a few more bucks and doesn't include a seat, but you can always buy a decent used car seat for cheap.

Fanatec has some good deals on their CSL Elite V2 Pedals right now, good pedals, could step up to the Clubsport V3's. For wheel bases they're selling the CSL DD for a screaming deal right now.

Thanks was looking at that, but it sold out before I pulled the trigger. Maybe it restocks by Monday.

Had some problems with my csl dd recently, 2 of my wheels didn’t work. My McLaren wheel while playing Xbox would stop and I’d power cycle and it would come back. After firmware updates I got nowhere.

I stumbled across a link to a new update may have caused it, scrolled down and found that it’s a false claim and the c clamp on the shaft got loose and pulled the shaft out of the internal connector. So I loosened the clamp and pushed the shaft back in and it worked. Happy days are back.

Moral of the story put your shaft all the way in.

I use a G27 on a Playseats Evolution I bought on Kijiji. I found its pretty cost effective to buy the whole thing and replace as you go. I also opted for a VR headset over a monitor.

Ya that’s the imagine I found after thinking it was firmware. It was weird, put the wheel on and it disconnects from pc. All good now. I had to put some grease on the shaft as the formula wheel wasn’t coming off nice.
