https://www.thestar.com/business/202...-30-years.htmlAlmost one third of Canadian homeowners now have mortgage periods of more than 30 years
The standard 25-year amortization period is fading as lenders deal with stressed homeowners, putting banks at ‘greater risk of loss,’ says banking regulator.

Usually when interest rates go up, the price of houses drops. Anyone know a chart showing how this is not the case?
Maybe some older beyonders can comment compared to the 80s and 90s housing?

A) Canada's population increased over 1 million in the past year, those people need places to liveThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
B) Lots of Canadians have been priced out of Toronto and Vancouver. When they can sell their 1bed condo and buy a house out here mortgage free it's a no brainer. Prices have fallen in those cities since last year but they've risen in Calgary. It's just another population shift
Welcome to Canada, here's your 40 year mortgage and 10 year car loan, enjoy!

Just did a walk by of the house and can confirm it's not livable without significant Reno's. Best pics I could get from behind the house.
What even happens in this situation or to produce this situation? Why didn't their home insurance cover repairs?
Did they light it up in hopes of claiming insurance and got caught so they're fucked now and trying to sell?
It’s possible that it would have been a legitimate claim but without Buster telling us facts we can only guess… the most glaring “insurance void” situation would be having a vacant home. Which would be all the more likely with the high end market as these owners are way more likely to travel or own multiple propertiesThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member.
