If you don't care about declining societal problems and culture wars, there's lots of red states that have jobs, its easy to get a visa, and are affordable. Just have to leave the west coast.

My sister who holds a Ph.D, studied and has been working in the states would say otherwise.

She is about to be forced back to Canada for the next three years while she waits for her visa.
I don't know all the details, but she is working with an immigration lawyer currently.
