The exposed faces of the Fire Marshall and the Doctor were their Achilles heel. That fire would be incredibly hot to any exposed surface from the few feet away they were. I suspect we will see them in full coverage gear this weekend. Even if the Doctor helmet is a flip front design, it would have been a huge help to him here. Once out of danger, he could flip it open to communicate with the patient.

The tire didn't kill him tho. The suspension arm went through his helmet is what killed him. The halo may or may not have saved him, the indycar screen would have been way more successful at it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

From I've read and seen, both the wheel and the arm hit him. You're right, if the two things hit him seperately, then the arm may or may not have hit the Halo, I always though that the arm was still attached to the wheel, ie it was one big connected part, which IMO would have given the Halo a much better chance to stop the impacts to Senna's helmet, as the wheel hit first, which means it would have hit the Halo first, and very likely have taken the suspension arm with it on its new vector of travel after hitting the Halo. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Edit -The right front wheel had shot up upon impact and entered the cockpit, striking the right frontal area of his helmet. The violence of the wheel's impact shoved his head back against the headrest (which was already far forward from the car's impact with the wall) causing fatal skull fractures.[12] In addition, a piece of suspension attached to the wheel had also partially penetrated his Bell M3 helmet and caused trauma to his head.[12]
Interesting. Always thought it was the suspension arm that killed him. Learnt something new today.

It easily could have been the arm - declaring cause of death with 2 brutal injuries from 2 flying objects within milliseconds hitting Senna in the head...IMO it's not 100% which injury killed him, both contributed. I just remembered that at the time everyone, especially F1 commentators and documentary hosts/etc always put it on the tire.
Either way, the safety engineering and tech put into these cars is simply amazing. Seeing this most recent crash and fireball, and watching Grosjean get out of it with some burns on his finger tips...unreal.
GR fastest in FP1
I actually watched FP1 today. Bottas screwed up 4 laps trying to beat Russell. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Black Mercedes-AMG 63. How can it go wrong?

Yea I caught FP1 for the first time in ages too. Bottas is definitely feeling the pressure and was trying to find time where there wasn't any. It's only FP1 but all the doubters have been quieted that George is worthy of his hype.
It's still Friday (FP2 1st again for Russell as I type this) but if Russel actually manages to beat Bottas this weekend, it would make Hamilton look worse in his last 4 championships. Easy #2 teammate syndrome. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

What if Hamilton and Russell are good and Bottas is shit? Bottas has been really good on Saturdays, like Russell, but Russell hasn't had a car that's racy on Sundays.
He’s not looking so good in FP3.

Qualy soon, we'll see.
to go a full FP3 without improving his time from yesterday as well. If you look at overall FP sessions, GP isnt really close..This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Maybe I'm a hater, but he's still hugely overrated imo.
Qually is going to be interesting. I have a feeling there's going to be lots of penalties with people on outlaps with how tight this track is. 15 drivers within 0.8, i'd bet that the car advantage with Mercedes isn't going to be so extreme this weekend.
If gr != p1

Oh Albon
GR loses his perfect record. Beating Max was important.
