From Wikipedia:
"Indian Giver" is a song written by Bobby Bloom, Ritchie Cordell, and Bo Gentry. It was first recorded by 1910 Fruitgum Company for their 1969 album, Indian Giver.[1] The song went to #5 on The Billboard Hot 100 in 1969 and was on the charts for 13 weeks.
^That's weird. Yes it's wrong to say. But maybe if someone could focus on getting these people some potable water here in the 2020's, I think we'd be focusing our efforts better than football team names, etc.
. Immediately regretted feeding the troll.

Consider this your Xmas card.
I'll probably ask for the card back though.
I love it when I have almost no idea what's going on!
I'm guessing the troll reference was JubJub and a quickly edited post, but maybe my partnership with Mr.Mike and Killy had come to a sudden end without me even realizing it! LoL!!
Time for a beer.
Nah. I liked your post

I'm a visual kind of guy. So charts help me a lot.
From a cbc news story outlining the need for boosters in Ontario.

I'm planning to get my booster shot, but this graph reinforces my thought that it's probably not a matter of life or death, more of an avoidance of less serious outcomes.

I haven't had coffee yet. Could you please explain that one slightly more to me?
I interpret it as saying that 2 doses of a vaccine do the following.
1) keep you out of hospital, and that protection is durable over time and against the omicron variant.
2) reduce your chance of infection, but that protection reduces either over time or with the omicron variant or both.
Don't focus too much on the numbers, that's not the important part. Percentage of protection is kind of a complex thing. But the trends are simple to understand. Whatever reduction in risk of moderate or mild infection your two doses gave you, that reduction is much less now.

2 doses will still get you covid because of omicron. Won't send you to hospital tho.
Of the US hospitals that are at capacity, it's still unvaccinated folks clogging it up. So the protection against hospitalization does seem to be legit.
No clue how much better a 3rd dose will do against omicron. Even with the small % of population that's got 3rd dose, I know a handful of them that still caught it. 100% infection rate in households. I just assume everyone's gonna get it, and if you're vaxxed, it's milder than the flu.

I believe and am operating under the words you 2 have said. But that graph is confusing me (still no coffee (.
It looks like it says "November 30th the chance of you getting infected started plummeting and is now ~only 10% compared to 85% a month ago. But there's still a 90% chance you'll end up in ICU or hospital."
OBVIOUSLY, it doesn't say that and I'm retarded. But... WtF does it say? LoL!
You're thinking backwards. The graph is "protection against". So it's backwards. The higher the #, the more protection against the 3 scenarios. The only line that dropped is infection, we're now less protected from infection, so a higher chance you'll catch it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Change the purple label to symptoms and it makes sense … is my understanding
This is supported by the immunologists interpretation as far as we know. Infection is more a function of antibodies and severe outcomes are more a function of t-cell response. Boosters are helping with antibodies, which drop off. But boosters probably don't help much with t cell recover which doesn't really drop off.
This might explain tirebob's reaction...
Cliffs if I understand right:
Because they chose spike protien as target of vax, your body is producing antibodies against the spike that binds with ace2 receptors, but your body might also be producing an "anti" antibody that has the same binding domain shape as the spike protien and this is causing endless inflammation

Tap, Rack, BANG!
I haven't watched that yet, but if this is the case then getting tattoos basically means you immune compromised. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
