I get the concept of taking precautions for a clear and imminent threat like we are now. But just wearing a mask JIC some unknown pathogen ever shows up? That seems like a poor cost benefit.

Why is it crazy to wear a mask if it helps to prevent spread?

The context I read it was the crazies will continue to wear masks so they don’t catch anything. What they fail to understand is mask usage (unless N95 etc) doesn’t stop spread, it reduces it a small step.

The real key is the people who ARE sick to wear them, that stops roughly 70% of the aerosol, and hopefully spread.

People won’t wear them because holier than thou.

If people choose not to take it after being offered then it has now become a personal choice vs. not having the choice to protect yourself. Hopefully government follows that plan as well and remove restrictions at that point too (although not holding my breath).
