For some reason I didn’t feel like phase 2B (vaccines for medical conditions) had started yet. Has it?
Wife has a condition on the list so wondering if she should get on it?

Doctors/Pharmacies are probably pre-booking, they did that for the AZ vaccines as well, my parents booked about a week before their birth year was eligible. AB is getting ~400k doses next week and then 225k doses the following week on top of the current 140k doses we have on hand so they absolutely have to expand it to 2b+2c probably on Monday or early next week. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Government's doing weird things with even budget announcements... 5-6 weeks to announce changes they've already made. It's a bit strange.
You can get on a waiting list if you qualify for 2B.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Well as much as everyone was shitting on Canada's vaccine procurement it looks like it's paying off as Canada is picking up pace quickly and outpacing a lot of larger nations now.
This is a 7 day rolling average too so it really doesn't take into account the large amount our vaccine shipments increased last week and the 5.5 million doses we have arriving over the next 2 weeks.
We are doing much better now that vaccine is arriving in quantity. Yes. I hope the next few weeks we get the supply our fearless leaders say we will.

There is a list of things that allow you to get the shot starting April 1, for example people with Diabetes. You just need a doctors note verifying you have said condition. I don't know what your wife has but this is the list:This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I feel like they made it extremely clear a doctors note is NOT required.
I know she’s eligible. The mechanical process for actually getting a shot in her arm is what I’m not understanding.

I do see now that the link says you don't need it so I guess that isn't true - my buddy with Type 1 diabetes told me he has to get a note so he will be happy to know that isn't the case. I wonder how they will prevent just anyone from signing up for the Pfizer on April 1 if nobody has to prove anything?

My guess is the cost to the healthcare system to have everyone calling their doctors to get notes isn’t worth the trouble of preventing the small number of ineligible people cheating the system.

Yeah, they're using the honour system. Only honest people won't get vaccinated until summer.
I wonder how small the numbers will be though - especially with all the fear mongering in the news about the Astra vaccine, which I believe is what everyone gets if they don't get the Pfizer. Also with the Pfizer being significantly more effective, more people are going to naturally want that one if there is no consequence to simply signing up for the 2B group. Hopefully I'm wrong and not too many people take advantage. I mean, look what happened to toilet paper supplies despite every single data source constantly telling people there is no actual shortage as long as people buy what they need.
It will balance out with all the people afraid of vaccines in general.
