My original wood budget was $45K. Came in at $130K. I heard my framer talking on Friday that no one in the city has 3/8th or 5/8th plywood (can’t remember which one) in the city.
Pressure treated wood is still crazy expensive.
Ground works had to wait a week as there was no 4” pipe available at the time.
I can’t get a Goodman or Lennox furnace. Have to go with Trane as Goodman is sold out indefinitely and Lennox is saying they might deliver at the end of October. Trane is available now.
Can’t get the kitchen faucet my wife wants. Tub in the basement is going to be different than the others as its on 18 week back order. Windows were supposed to be delivered on site at the beginning of August. Still don’t have em. Some world wide glass shortage.

If you're not attached to it, there's not much you can do. But it's important to not be attached to that.

Don't let me derail. I've just seen how a simple hole can magically turn to shit so quickly. It's really weird.
Anyway, again - it's a thread about your super neat project. I don't want to detract from that.
Holy shit. These wood prices have been out-of-fucking-control but it really hits home when you're doing a whole house and not just a deck or something small. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I was going to ask how much more for wood did you have to pay this year, was the extra 85k with some extra add ons or purely just due to the inflated costs of lumber? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
House is looking sick so far.

Hey Benyl,
Did you hire builder for this?
What did you budget for this build? no land costs.
Where will that line drain connect? Also is there a vapor barrier underneath all that foam insulation?

Wait, I thought this was a 'remodel'. You weren't kidding about the start over and tear it down comment a few pages back, damn!
And lol (except not really) at the worker in the pit of death. Fucking residential construction guys.
can someone explain this to me? I sit at a desk for a living. Do holes like that just collapse on dudes and kill them? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Oddly enough, yes. Not often, but it's like an avalanche when it happens. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Here's a video of someone almost certainly being killed:
What's the dirt's motivation to just stand there in a vertical sheet with zero support from its side?
that looks terrible. back to my spreadsheet.
Man I had the same reaction. No way no how would I send guys into that trench. That's some residential cowboy shit. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Agreed. Couple guys up here in Edmonton died a few years back in those exact circumstances.
