Thoughts on defensive plays for when the "asset bubble" that some people say we are in bursts?
Just pay down debt, hoard cash and bonds?
Utility stocks? Dogecoin?

Asset prices are gaining momentum again after taking a breather, or in some cases, pulling back.
There was an enormous amount of money just injected into the world economy while most of the world has been unable to spend. We're likely on the cusp of a broader spending spree when things get back to normal and reopen, pushing even more money into the economy. Interest rates are at historic lows, with no real end in sight.
For the foreseeable future, assets are where it's at.
Scared money don't make money.
Way too soon, more stimulus on the way.
Go all in on the green wave.
Re-evaluate in 5-6 months.
Better to be 2 years early than 1 min too late. Euphoria doesn't even to begin to describe the situation yet people are clamoring to get in because FOMO. Tesla, bitcoin, SPACs...you can't even make this shit up. By the way...everyone thinks they can get out in time. Nobody goes in expecting to hold the bag.
When SPY is around 400-420, I am switching half of retirement funds to bonds.
Is this short term investing or long term investing,.

The problem at the moment is governments are doing their best to monetize debt / devalue currency so holding cash isn't a great option either.
There's really no sensible place to invest these days which is why the bubble keeps getting blown bigger and bigger. Reminds me a lot of the beanie baby / tech bubble where everyone was hoping to make profit by selling for more to the next guy - no one actually wanted to hold the "investments" as the underlying fundamentals were trash.
After I get my residence in Spain I'll need to invest a sizeable portfolio - likely push into some commodities and commodity producers, emerging markets, small cap and value stocks first - then eventually get into more of a diversified global portfolio once the fundamentals make more sense.

Is it really cheap to live and eat in Spain? We went there for a month during our honeymoon in 2011 and I remember that while it wasn't as cheap as Portugal our money seemed to stretch quite far. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I would also like a thread on how to gain residence in Spain. Love it there.

Sweet thanks, rep'ed Hopefully 7.2 will be enough
Just understand that the government in Spain doesn’t really function, makes AHS or the CBE look like a well oiled machine.
Consulting a Spanish lawyer familiar with the immigration and citizenship laws is my recommendation.
However it can absolutely be extremely cheap to be there, just don’t live your life like you are a tourist.

You average down when the bubble bursts. Don’t be scared. The pathway to 7.2 isn’t for amateurs lol
I kept buying last March as the Dow kept dropping 2k pts/day. I had positions lined up all the way down to 12k lol Didn’t get the bottom but It was a beautiful thing. I sold off some positions waiting for the next free fall. You can catch up on gains if buy during any dips or flash crash.
Stocks only go up or go on sale so govern yourself accordingly.
